Position Overview:
We're accesso Intelligence (powered by Dexibit). 🦖 🎢 🐅 🗼 🖼️ 🎡 🏟️
We love dinosaurs and data. Our AI product helps visitor attractions — from museums to zoos to theme parks — make sense of their data and make better decisions. We work with big international names alongside local favourites like MOTAT and Weta, and we've picked up a few awards along the way from HiTech, NZIBA, TIN and more.
Dexibit recently joined accesso, a global technology company serving over 1,000 venues across 30+ countries. That means our platform, our reach, and the complexity of the problems we get to solve just got a lot bigger.
Location: Auckland-based, hybrid (~3 days in our Parnell office / ~2 at home)
Reports to: VP, accesso Intelligence
Travel ✈️ Requirement: none
What we build:
accesso Intelligence brings together deep domain knowledge, an AI-ready data platform, and an agentic interface. We create value for our customers by addressing non-trivial tasks like strategic modelling, scheduling, operational reporting, and analysing visitor feedback.
Under the hood, the AI layer orchestrates real business logic and APIs: integration packs, custom datasets and benchmarks, context control features, and our query and visualisation infrastructure.
The agentic interface is where we're investing new feature development — think streaming, context window management, tool orchestration, and sandboxed execution. There's real depth here, and real problems to solve.
Where you fit:
We're looking for a product-minded software engineer who can shape what we build and how we build it. You'll be in the code every day — but we value engineers who lead naturally: through design decisions, technical direction, mentorship, and bringing the team along.
You're full-stack, but you lean heavily to one side, whether that's backend data systems or frontend product engineering. With the depth of our problems and the leverage that frontier LLMs now give us, we believe strong engineers need real depth on one side while being capable and willing to contribute across the stack.
What you'll be working on:
- Design and ship features across the agentic interface, including streaming, context window management, tool orchestration, and sandboxed execution.
- Contribute to our AI layer — working with OpenAI/Anthropic models, LangChain4J, Pydantic, and our query and visualisation infrastructure.
- Build and maintain integrations, custom datasets, and benchmarks that underpin our data platform.
- Bring technical direction to the team — making thoughtful design decisions, reviewing code, and mentoring those around you.
- Work closely with customers and product stakeholders to understand the why behind the work and translate that into elegant, impactful solutions.
What you bring to the role:
- You're a proven engineer with 5+ years of experience across different systems and domains. You've shipped impactful work and can talk honestly about the failures as well as the wins.
- You break complex problems into simple, elegant solutions. You're a great communicator with strong customer empathy and a quick grasp of what the work is really trying to achieve.
- You're fluent across our stack — or close to it. Languages: TypeScript, Java, Python, SQL. Data systems: PostgreSQL, DuckDB, Databricks. Platforms: AWS (Ansible + CDK), Datadog, Modal, LangFuse. UI: React, Jotai/Redux Toolkit, data viz.
- You bring curiosity and humility. You mentor naturally, you're not afraid to give constructive feedback, and you genuinely enjoy learning from others' perspectives.
- You build AI, and you build with AI. Comfort with AI-assisted development tooling (we use Claude Code and Codex) is a real plus here.
How you got here:
There's no single path to this role. You might be:
- A senior software engineer with a strong product instinct who wants a role where your decisions genuinely shape what gets built
- A full-stack engineer with a deep specialisation in either backend data systems or frontend product engineering — and the curiosity to contribute beyond it
- An engineer from a SaaS or data platform background who's excited about working at the frontier of AI and agentic interfaces
- Someone who's worked in or around the visitor attractions, hospitality, or cultural sector and wants to bring that context into deeply technical work
Even if you can't tick every box, we still encourage you to apply. accesso recognises all our team as diverse and unique individuals.
