Job Description:
Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux & Kubernetes Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph in Laurel, Maryland.
In this role, you will work across multiple hosting platforms supporting Linux virtual machines and have the opportunity to learn about the product while diving deep into VM management and DevOps. You will monitor and manage production Linux VMs, including stand-alone VMs and those integrated within Kubernetes clusters, across multiple hosting platforms.
The role supports Linux VM administration, Kubernetes cluster health, automation, Apache NiFi deployments, certificate lifecycle management, security and compliance, software updates and patching, and production troubleshooting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage production Linux VMs, including stand-alone VMs and those integrated within Kubernetes clusters, across multiple hosting platforms.
- Administer, secure, and maintain RHEL 8/9 Linux virtual machines across OpenStack, VMware, and AWS.
- Manage the server certificate lifecycle and monitor VM health status.
- Update software on VMs manually and through YUM repositories and ensure VMs satisfy current security requirements.
- Maintain Ansible playbooks to push changes to VMs.
- Monitor Kubernetes clusters through Rancher or Kubernetes commands to ensure cluster nodes and pods are healthy and running smoothly.
- Troubleshoot production Linux VMs and Kubernetes clusters, including node and pod health.
- Support Apache NiFi deployments by performing configuration updates, monitoring dataflows, and resolving connectivity or resource-related issues.
- Manage the full server and PKI certificate lifecycle, ensuring systems meet current security and compliance standards, including STIG and SSP.
- Perform software updates, patching, and system hardening through YUM and enterprise repositories.
- Work directly with development teams and end users to provide operational support ranging from basic configuration changes to complex cluster builds.
- Analyze logs, troubleshoot performance issues, and identify root causes of VM, container, or application-level problems.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
- Troubleshooting experience with VM and application logs, including tracking down the sources and causes of VM or application issues.
- Strong Linux skills with RHEL 8/9.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher for containerized workloads.
- Familiarity with Apache NiFi or similar data-integration tools.
- Working knowledge of Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Hands-on experience managing VMs in OpenStack, VMware, or AWS.
- Ability to troubleshoot SSH, performance, and network-related issues in Linux environments.
- Experience applying security hardening, including STIG and STE/STN, and maintaining compliance documentation, including SSP.
- Experience with network flow monitoring tools.
- Active Security+ certification.
- Experience monitoring and managing production Linux VMs.
- All experience and education must be in a technical field directly related to the labor category, and all diplomas, GED certificates, and degrees must be from accredited institutions.
- Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations: Twelve (12) years of minimum experience with a High School Diploma or GED.
- Ten (10) years of minimum experience with an Associate's degree.
- Eight (8) years of minimum experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- Six (6) years of minimum experience with a Master's degree.
- Four (4) years of minimum experience with a Doctorate degree.
- 50% of Application Engineer positions require IAT Level II certification.
Desired Skills:
- Red Hat certification.
- Knowledge of Python.
- MongoDB.
- Kubernetes (Docker).
- Familiarity with Riverbed Technology.

Skills Required
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- Eight years of experience developing enterprise software applications or supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or four additional years of software engineering experience substituted for the degree
- Strong experience developing web applications using Angular
- Experience building, maintaining, and enhancing Angular applications in enterprise environments
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining production Angular applications
- Experience upgrading legacy Angular applications to newer supported framework versions
- Experience resolving framework migration issues, dependency conflicts, breaking changes, UI rendering issues, and theme compatibility problems
- Experience integrating front-end applications with backend RESTful APIs
- Ability to understand backend API endpoints and troubleshoot front-end to back-end data flow issues
- Experience working in large enterprise software applications involving multiple development teams
- Experience using Git or other version control systems
- Knowledge of secure software development principles and best practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Angular Material or similar UI component frameworks
