Senior Front End Architect, AIA Labs

AIA Labs is an in-house venture at Bridgewater Associates that is focused on using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to generate returns in markets. Its goal is to develop capabilities that enhance Bridgewater’s existing strategies as well as to manage a dedicated AI strategy for clients.  Bridgewater’s AIA Labs is combining a broad set of AI tools (de-optimized tabular data models, reasoning tools, and LLMs) using proprietary techniques developed in-house to build an AI-based Reasoning Engine capable of performing fundamental, systematic investment research.

 About the Role

The Frontend Architect will report directly into AIA Lab’s CTO.  The Frontend Architect must have the skills and abilities of both an engineer and a designer as this person will be responsible for building their own designs with a modern frontend and design stack to bring novel interfaces and interaction modes to life.  The Architect will interact directly with investors and scientists and be required to deeply understand user needs and goals.

 You Will Drive the Following Responsibilities

• Drive the architecture and frontend direction of AIA Lab’s applications
• Design and build scalable, maintainable, and performant frontend systems with visually appealing and functional user interfaces
• Define frontend architectures while constantly evaluating and selecting frontend technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve AIA Labs’ products
• Work closely with both users and back-end engineers and understand the requirements of both teams

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in a technically rigorous/elite environment with modern Frontend and Design tech stacks
• Programming and framework experience with React, Typescript, Next.js, CSS, Tailwind or similar
• Design experience with Figma or similar is required
• Strong communication skills to deeply understand and empathize with users’ needs and goals, and translate those understanding into technical designs.
• Ability to utilize generative AI in your craft (Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, v0, or similar), and desire to incorporate additional AI techniques in your D2D work over time.
• Deep computer science fundamentals with exposure to backend platform-level development

Location Requirements

The anticipated onsite requirement for this role is four days per week at our New York City campus.

Compensation Band

The compensation range for this role is $500,000 to $800,000 inclusive of base salary, discretionary bonus, and long-term incentive. The expected base salary for this role is between 33-60% of the range.
