Duties & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled Senior FPGA Engineer to join our innovative team at Viavi Solutions Inc. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and verification of complex digital integrated circuits for our cutting-edge network test and measurement products.  Viavi Solutions develops test solutions that enable to development and deployment of the latest network and AI infrastructure technologies.

This position is for our Germantown, MD, site.
Job Responsibilities

  • Work on the architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance digital blocks and subsystems using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including software, analog, and FPGA engineers to define specifications, resolve integration challenges, and ensure successful product delivery.
  • Participate in all phases of the FPGA development lifecycle, from concept and specification to prototype bring-up and characterization.
  • Perform synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), and power analysis to meet design constraints and optimize performance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the digital design team.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in digital FPGA design and verification.
  • Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design.
  • Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis and simulation
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, Coverage-Driven Verification).
  • Solid understanding of digital design principles, computer architecture, and memory interfaces (e.g., DDR, DMA, PCIe).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex digital designs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design and signal integrity considerations is a plus.
