Senior FP&A AnalystJob Summary

The Sr. FP&A Analyst will play a critical role in driving financial visibility, rigorous analysis, and data-driven decision-making across the business. This is a high-impact opportunity for a strategic and commercially-minded finance professional to take meaningful ownership of core FP&A processes, partner deeply with cross-functional leaders, and help shape the financial direction of a fast-growing, PE-backed SaaS company. The Sr. FP&A Analyst will work closely with the leader of the FP&A function, taking an analytical and forward-looking view of the business to identify trends, surface risks and opportunities, and drive operational and financial performance throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and strategically minded, with strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, executive-ready insights.


Location(s): North Carolina Research Triangle or East Coast (preferred)

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Be a key driver in the preparation of financial presentations for the company’s executive leadership team and board of directors, including monthly business reviews, quarterly board packages, and ad hoc strategic reporting
  • Partner closely with the Finance and Accounting team to assess actuals versus budget and forecast targets; take a lead role in variance analysis, synthesizing key drivers of performance, and incorporating findings into updated financial forecasts and management commentary
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve analytical models that utilize both financial and operational data (including SaaS metrics such as ARR, NRR, churn, and LTV) to forecast operating results and support strategic planning
  • Lead company, product, and project profitability analysis, including margin analysis by product line and customer segment
  • Proactively identify financial and operational trends, surface risks and opportunities, and provide forward-looking insights to support business decision-making in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Serve as a key finance business partner to cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success), driving shared understanding of financial performance and supporting department-level planning and analysis
  • Drive the development and implementation of process improvements, including automation of recurring reporting and enhancements to planning tools and workflows
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives including M&A due diligence, benchmarking, and competitive and market analysis
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies (including large language models, AI-assisted analytics, and automation platforms) to enhance the speed, depth, and quality of financial analysis; contribute to the development of AI-powered FP&A workflows, reporting automation, and scalable processes that improve productivity across the finance team
  • Administer the sales commission process, including calculation, reconciliation, and timely payment of commissions in partnership with Sales leadership and HR; ensure accuracy and maintain clear documentation of commission plans and payout history


Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Economics
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, or another analytical discipline such as consulting or investment banking. Experience in the software/SaaS industry is strongly preferred; PE-backed company experience is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are required
  • Process oriented thinker with great organizational skills that wants to get involved in the business and the ecosystem that CData is leading
  • Strong desire to be part of a growing business and be integral in the development of the team and the culture at CData
  • Strong analytical capabilities, able to develop new frameworks, and model potential outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines with emphasis on sustained accuracy and attention to detail
  • Articulate clearly and succinctly through excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Capable of presenting complex financial information in an easy-to-understand format
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and SaaS revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) is a plus
  • Advanced financial modeling experience is required; experience building ARR/MRR waterfall, headcount, or three-statement models in a SaaS environment is a strong plus
  • Ability to quickly learn and leverage new financial and business systems. Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, or Tableau is a plus. Familiarity with FP&A planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, or Mosaic) is a plus. Experience with or exposure to sales commission administration tools (e.g., CaptivateIQ, Spiff, or Xactly) is a plus
  • Demonstrated comfort using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) in a professional finance context; experience or strong interest in building AI-assisted workflows, automating recurring analyses, and contributing to a culture of continuous process improvement through technology adoption

US Only: The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $90,000–$115,000 per year. The actual range may vary depending on specific locations. In the areas we're looking to hire within Chapel Hill / Research Triangle, NC, we expect the base pay range for this role to be $90,000–$115,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Data Access & Compliance: This role may access, process, or support systems containing confidential customer data, including PII, PHI/ePHI, and other regulated or sensitive information. The employee must comply with CData’s Information Classification and Management Policy, HIPAA-related safeguards where applicable, access-control requirements, data-handling procedures, and incident-reporting obligations.

Skills Required
