What You'll Do
Firmware & Embedded Development
- Design, develop, and implement firmware and embedded software for IoT devices, ensuring high performance, quality, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software components, focusing on simplicity and reuse of proven design elements.
- Utilize hardware knowledge to contribute to the development of hardware designs and circuits that promote seamless interaction between firmware and hardware.
Product Design & Customer Focus
- Design products with a focus on customer needs, ensuring that manufacturing, testing, support, and installation are considered throughout the development process.
- Lead new product development efforts, working closely with Team Leads and Project Managers to deliver solutions on time and within functional specifications.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Actively participate in knowledge sharing, contributing to a culture of transparency and collaboration by documenting and distributing product information.
- Evaluate workflows and processes with a focus on practicality and efficiency.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and other team quality assurance procedures.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Act as a subject matter expert, mentoring and leading other engineers through expertise and knowledge of current products, technologies, and tools.
- Lead and guide engineering teams in best practices for embedded IoT development, communication protocols, and platform development.
What Skills You Need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading the on-time delivery of net-new embedded IoT engineering projects and solutions.
- Strong proficiency in C or C++, with a solid grasp of programming principles, effective coding techniques, and the ability to mentor others.
- Working knowledge of IoT protocols and standards including MQTT, TLS, 3GPP, and TCP.
- Solid understanding of and ability to mentor others on IoT device development, communication and protocols, Git, embedded RTOS/OS, platform development, and embedded hardware.
- Robust problem-solving skills with a proactive approach, personal accountability, and a positive and professional attitude.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a passion for knowledge sharing and teamwork.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where constant iteration, improvement, and innovation are key.
Preferred Technical Skills
- C and C++ development for embedded systems.
- Test equipment including oscilloscopes, DVMs, and JTAG debuggers.
- IoT protocols and standards including MQTT, TLS, 3GPP, and TCP.
- Cellular, satellite, and ISM communications.
- Digital interfaces and protocols including SPI, I2C, RS485, and UART.
- Embedded operating systems including RTOS and Linux.
- IoT security including PKI, TLS, and TPM.
- Integrated development environments including Keil, IAR, and VS Code.
Skills Required
