Ko wai mātou – About us

Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know Gilmours, New World, PAK’nSAVE, and Four Square, right? That’s us!

With more than 320 stores and over 27,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Māui, Foodstuffs North Island is a co-operative proudly owned by our Members. Our purpose is simple – making sure New Zealanders get more out of life, and we’re driven by our aspiration to be one of New Zealand’s most customer-driven and productive retailers.

Gilmours is 100% New Zealand owned and operated, serving thousands of businesses and organisations across the North Island with the food and beverages they need to grow their businesses. From butchery, produce and chilled foods through to grocery, beverages, consumables and liquor, Gilmours is the one-stop shop for foodservice.

Te Tūranga – About the role

We’re looking for a commercially focused Senior Financial Analyst to provide dedicated financial support for the integration of Gilmours South Island into Foodstuffs North Island’s systems and ways of working.

Working closely with the Gilmours South Island project team and our Senior Commercial Finance Partner – Wholesale, you’ll take ownership of project financial reporting, forecasting, cost control and benefits tracking. You’ll also help transition financial activities, reporting and controls into business as usual as the project progresses.

This is a hands-on finance role where your analysis will directly support project governance, commercial decisions and the successful delivery of long-term business value.

What will you be doing?

  • Owning and maintaining project financial models, budgets, forecasts and actuals across the delivery lifecycle.
  • Tracking operating and capital expenditure, commitments, invoices, accruals and purchase orders.
  • Completing monthly project close activities and reconciling results across Finance systems and project records.
  • Preparing rolling forecasts and scenario analysis to assess the financial impact of changes in scope, timing, resources and delivery assumptions.
  • Identifying financial risks, opportunities and variances early, and working with project owners to agree appropriate action.
  • Maintaining the project benefits register and tracking benefits across revenue, margin, cost, working capital and productivity.
  • Preparing clear, concise reporting for project governance, Wholesale leadership and Finance.

He kōrero mōu – About you

You’ll bring a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, along with experience supporting projects, programmes, or business change initiatives. You’ll be comfortable working across budgets, forecasts, actuals, and financial controls, and have strong financial modelling, analytical, and numerical skills backed by advanced Excel capability.

You’ll have a proven ability to turn data into meaningful commercial insight through benefits tracking, management reporting, and financial analysis. With excellent attention to detail and sound judgement, you take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work and understand the importance of robust financial controls in supporting business decisions.

Just as important are your communication and stakeholder management skills. You'll be confident engaging with a variety of stakeholders, constructively challenging assumptions, and influencing outcomes through data-driven insights. A practical, collaborative approach, coupled with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet project and month-end deadlines, will set you up for success in this role.
