Job Description
 

Gilead Sciences is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A Clinical Studies to join our Virology Program Finance FP&A team in Foster City, CA. In this role, you will partner closely with the Virology Therapeutic Area Clinical Operations team, and Finance colleagues to provide financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical support for clinical study spend. You will help drive budgeting and forecasting processes, perform financial analyses, support month-end close activities, and provide insights to support business decision-making.

As a Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A Clinical Studies​, at Gilead you will ... 

  • Partner with Finance Colleagues, Clinical Operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to provide financial support and analysis for clinical study spend.

  • Support the month-end close process, including accrual reviews, variance analysis, and reporting.

  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts, latest estimates, annual budgets, and long-range plans.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support resource planning, study forecasting, and business decision-making.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc management reports and presentations.

  • Analyze budget versus actual results and communicate key drivers, risks, and opportunities to Finance and business partners.

  • Support financial analysis related to development programs and external collaborations as required.

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of reporting tools, financial models, and planning processes.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance planning, forecasting, and reporting efficiency.

  • Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Five Years' Experience 

OR 

Masters' Degree and Three Years' Experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant finance, FP&A, accounting, or related experience.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required.

  • Experience with Oracle, Hyperion Planning, Essbase, Tableau, or similar financial systems preferred.

  • Experience with project reporting, operational accounting, and financial reporting required.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

  • Demonstrated success working in a deadline-driven, multi-task environment.

  • Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or R&D organizations preferred.

  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced degree is a plus.


 

The salary range for this position is: $109,650.00 - $141,900.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
