Job Overview:
Strategic business advisor to the head of Asia-Pacific (APAC) operations driving financial performance and commercial growth in the $500 million annual clinical research market in China. This position blends financial leadership with commercial growth strategy, making it critical for driving business expansion in one of the world’s largest and most competitive pharmaceutical markets. This position will identify opportunities and initiate actions that enhance our revenue and operating profit through optimal pricing, profit mix, processes and resource management. It will continually inform APAC leadership and other business partners of financial results and be the point of contact for budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting. Provides ongoing analysis of the historical financial results with particular emphasis on opportunities that can lead to changes that will have a positive impact on business performance. Provides leadership, training, coaching and mentoring to junior staff.
Summary of Responsibilities:
· Revenue Allocation & Country P&L (Core Focus). Execute monthly revenue split by country for China per Global FP&A methodology, prepare reconciliation and variance commentary. Own the preparation of China management P&L for global performance analysis.
· Business Partnering & Strategy: Partner with the head of APAC and GCD operations and commercial leaders to analyze sales, margin and P&L performance; identify opportunities and risks; develop actionable financial strategy to support annual business plan targets; Translate China market dynamics into financial impact assessments for Global FP&A and China GM.
Financial Planning & Forecasting: Own the preparation, monitoring and analysis of annual plans, budgets and forecasts for revenue, costs, operating expenses and balance sheet; ensure alignment with global and local growth plans in support of Fortrea’s corporate Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
· Commercial Finance Support: Provide financial analysis and guidance to support business development (BD) efforts in China, to include negotiating on rates, rebates and commercial incentives.
· Operational Excellence: Drive cost savings, and process efficiencies; maintain robust financial controls in line with US GAAP and other legislative policies.
· Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between APAC operations and Fortrea corporate finance, ensuring smooth communication and project execution.
· Market-Specific Financial Leadership: Support market-specific financial strategies, including tender analysis, contracting and BD deal structuring in alignment with global clinical development plans.
· Team Leadership: Lead and develop growing China FP&A team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
Qualifications (Minimum Required):
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field; CPA, MBA or equivalent certification preferred
· Language: Must be fluent in both local language (Mandarin) and English
Experience (Minimum Required):
· 8-10 years of experience in roles with increasing responsibility in the clinical research industry
· Prior experience in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and preparation of presentations for senior management
· Experience with service revenue allocation methodologies preferred.
· Strong analytical capabilities; ability to coordinate, collaborate and gather relevant information for effective analysis and bridge understanding of detailed results with big picture strategy and direction
· Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with multiple organizational and professional levels in a global matrix environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills across all levels of the organization
· Ability to work independently where success depends upon appropriate use of judgment, initiative, innovation, and strategic thinking
· Project management experience
· Team oriented, ability and willingness to manage processes, and supervise & develop others
· Intermediate to advanced use of Excel and MS Office. High level of proficiency in the use of PC and applicable software, including relational database manipulation and ERP systems

Skills Required
