Are you an experienced executive support professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with senior leaders?

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Executive Assistant to join our Vice-Chancellor’s Unit.

This is an opportunity to work at the heart of the University, providing high-level, confidential executive and administrative support to our senior leadership team. You will play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of executive offices, supporting University governance and building strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

About the role

Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will exercise sound judgement, initiative and discretion to manage competing priorities and deliver exceptional executive support.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-level executive support, including complex diary management, correspondence, briefings and confidential documentation.
  • Coordinating domestic and international travel, high-profile events and visiting delegations.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with senior executives, Council members, government representatives and external partners.
  • Providing cross-functional support across senior executive offices to ensure continuity of service.
  • Supporting University governance, committees and strategic projects.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative systems, processes and service delivery.

About you

You are a confident and resourceful professional with exceptional organisational and communication skills. You enjoy working collaboratively, anticipate the needs of senior leaders and remain calm and effective under pressure.

You will bring:

  • At least five years' experience providing high-level executive support, preferably within a large and complex organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and diplomatically with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative, flexible approach and a willingness to support colleagues across executive portfolios.

A relevant degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required. Experience in higher education, governance or government relations will be highly regarded.

Role Details

  • Employment type: Permanent/Continuing | Full-time

  • Level 6/7 | $96,898 - $119,986 + 17% superannuation.

  • Position Description

  • Location: Wollongong Campus

  • Valid Australian work rights required.  Visa sponsorship is not available.
