Our Programmability team is at the heart of developing the software ecosystem for embedded scripting languages within the Roblox engine. To enable developers on the Roblox platform to create tomorrow's top games, they require more than a functional scripting environment—they need sophisticated programming interfaces, a robust set of script libraries, comprehensive development tools, and an ultra-fast, multithreaded runtime. Join our team to drive the evolution of a new suite of programming interfaces and advanced tooling features that millions of developers will use daily. As a member of our Game Engine Programmability team, you will play a pivotal role in this innovative process.

You Will

  • Lead, support, and expand a team of engineers focused on the design and development of creator programming languages, compilers, runtime tools, and models.
  • Mentor engineers and team leads to ensure the continuous growth of your team's expertise.
  • Collaborate with product partners to define the roadmap and spearhead project execution.
  • Work alongside other engineering teams, product managers, and designers to enhance existing functionalities and develop new ones, improving pipelines and workflows.
  • Uphold our company vision by putting the Roblox community first and exemplifying our values through thought leadership.

You Have

  • Over 5 years of management experience with a proven track record of hiring and nurturing a high-performing engineering team.
  • The ability to read (and write, if needed) C++ code. We expect leaders to be very technical.
  • Extensive experience in maintaining and evolving large-scale game engines, programming language tools, or similar technologies.
  • Curiosity and are a self-motivated learner. Able to develop new leadership skills or learn new technologies quickly
  • A clear vision and robust execution skills to address immediate tactical issues and manage diverse feature requests, maintaining a balance between short-term needs and long-term objectives.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$331,640$383,910 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
