The Engine Performance team at Roblox is dedicated to developing groundbreaking software that facilitates world simulation synchronization between clients and servers. As a Senior Engineering Manager on the Engine Performance team you will help build a very large application that empowers our global community of 5M+ developers to push the boundaries of interactive gaming! Your work will touch every part of the engine, from threading and memory management to physics and scripting. If you enjoy working on C++ software alongside experienced and passionate engineers, you will be right at home on our growing game engine team!

This role is based in our San Mateo HQ office (on-site Hybrid with three days per week in San Mateo).

You will:

  • Cultivate an impactful team by improving engineering practices with innovative ideas and strategies.
  • Be a part of the leadership team - influencing the direction and priorities of both your teams and the broader Engine organization.
  • Drive ownership of roadmaps, projects, problems, and outcomes throughout their entire life cycles
  • Participate technically through mentor, code review, technical review, and architectural guidance

You have:

  • Passion about understanding the fundamental workings of technology, a dedication to delving into the intricacies "under the hood" and tenacious about finding the root cause of problems
  • The ability to read (and write, if needed) code yourself in C++. We expect leaders to be very technical.
  • A shown capability as a seasoned leader in building high-performing teams and encouraging an environment of collaboration and innovation
  • Curiosity and are a self-motivated learner. Able to develop new leadership skills or learn new technologies quickly
  • Experienced with low-level software engineering and/or game engine development
  • Deep care for Building successful teams with high psychological safety and trust

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$331,640$383,910 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
