Job Description
The Engineering Training team provides end-to-end support for engineering applications and processes that enable efficient design, detailing, manufacturing integration, and project execution across BlueScope. The team supports critical engineering systems including PIM, POE, Vision, Atlas, nVision, Tekla, and other engineering and manufacturing applications.
The Sr Engineering Application Solutions Specialist serves as a technical subject matter expert for engineering applications and workflows. This role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other business functions to troubleshoot complex application issues, improve engineering processes, support system enhancements, and ensure applications effectively meet business and customer requirements. The Sr Specialist analyzes technical challenges, coordinates solutions across stakeholders, and contributes to testing, process improvement, documentation, training, and project initiatives that drive engineering efficiency and standardization.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical support resource for at least two complex engineering applications (e.g., Vision, Tekla, Autodesk Suite, RISA), ensuring system functionality aligns with engineering and manufacturing business processes.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot application issues, analyze root causes, validate solutions, and support continuous improvement of engineering workflows.
- Participate in software testing, system upgrades, releases, bug resolution, and implementation activities to ensure engineering applications perform reliably and meet business requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, standardization, automation, and data quality through process improvements and application enhancements.

- Mentor team members and users on engineering application functionality, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ensure service requests, incidents, and defects are documented, communicated, and resolved in a timely manner to support a high level of customer satisfaction and operational performance
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of business related experience in lieu of degree
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Analysis and troubleshooting experience
Preferred:
- Experience supporting engineering design, detailing, manufacturing, or construction-related software applications.
- Working knowledge of pre-engineered metal building design processes and engineering workflows.
- Experience with Tekla Structures, Autodesk products, RISA, Vision, PIM, POE, Atlas, or similar engineering applications.
- Knowledge of engineering document control, design standards, and manufacturing integration processes.
- Experience working directly with engineers, detailers, estimators, or manufacturing teams.
- Experience troubleshooting complex technical and business process issues in engineering environments.
