The Team: Trading Product Engineering

The Trading Product Engineering Team builds the core distributed systems that drive the global trading experience on Bullish Exchange. We own the end-to-end order lifecycle, orchestrating a sophisticated hybrid matching engine—combining a Central Limit Order Book with proprietary Automated Market Making—and the high-throughput APIs that enable trading across Spot, Futures, and Options. Our work demands absolute correctness in managing complex financial state transitions, translating intricate market structures into robust, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Engineer for Performance: Design and deliver reusable, reliable, and low-latency Java code that powers the core of the Exchange.

• Drive Technical Excellence: Uphold standards for code quality, organization, and automation to ensure systems are scalable and robust.

• Solve Hard Problems: Identify bottlenecks and engineer solutions to improve system performance.

• Testing: Improve system stability through the implementation of comprehensive test automation.

• Collaborate Globally: Work as part of a dynamic, distributed team, including Engineering, Product, and Project Management.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated proficiency in Java (17+) with experience in performance tuning and optimization.

• Track record of designing and building systems for high throughput and low latency.

• Solid understanding of middleware and messaging technologies such as Chronicle Queue, RabbitMQ, Aeron, and Kafka.

• Hands-on familiarity with frameworks like Spring or Micronaut, and infrastructure including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Deep knowledge of testing methodologies, SDLC practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

• A strong sense of responsibility and the drive to take ownership of mission-critical components.

Nice to Haves

• Experience working on core trading functionality, such as order matching and orderbook generation.

• Familiarity with financial derivative products (Options, Futures) and FIX protocol and related workflows.

• Understanding of blockchain technologies.
