Product Engineer
The Senior Engineer, Manufacturing Product is responsible for driving product engineering excellence and manufacturing execution for Cloud products. This role serves as the Product Engineer, partnering closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Process Engineering, Quality, and NPI teams to ensure products are manufacturable, scalable, and meet performance, quality, and cost objectives throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Engineering (Core Accountability)
- Serve as Product Engineer for assigned Cloud products, owning product definition, performance, and manufacturing execution.
- Act as primary technical interface between Manufacturing and R&D.
- Lead technical analysis, issue resolution, and engineering change implementation.
Manufacturing & Industrialization
- Support product industrialization from development through volume production.
- Ensure manufacturing readiness including BOM accuracy, drawings, specifications, configuration control, and MES setup.
- Partner with Process Engineering to align product design with manufacturing processes.
NPI & Lifecycle Management
- Execute product engineering activities for NPI, transfer, and ramp.
- Support DfM, DfA, DfT, and reliability initiatives.
- Drive product qualification, documentation release, and engineering change management.
Yield, Quality & Cost
- Monitor and improve yield and scrap rates.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing and field issues.
- Contribute to cost reduction through product optimization and material shrinkage management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with global engineering teams to ensure product readiness.
- Communicate technical risks, data analysis, and recommendations clearly.
- Coordinate on quality issues across functions.
EHS Responsibility
- Comply with all EHS policies and promote safe work practices.
- Support continuous improvement and Zero Accident Culture initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Physics or related field); master’s preferred.
- 6–10+ years of experience in product or manufacturing engineering in high-tech environments.
- Strong experience in NPI, ramp, and sustaining engineering.
- Solid knowledge of product lifecycle management and manufacturing interfaces.
- Experience in optical, photonics, semiconductor, or electronics manufacturing preferred.
- Strong understanding of Optical principles (must-have).
- Knowledge of Electrical principles (preferred).
- Experience with data analysis tools, Python, and/or VB.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a global environment.
