About the roleMUBI is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to help shape the future of our web experience. We want someone who’s not only built and shipped a variety of great products, but who’s also lived through generations of different JavaScript frameworks — and has strong opinions on what actually works (and why).
Our frontend app is written in Typescript, built using the Next.js framework, with React and Redux, against a REST API, tested with Jest and Cypress, and published to Storybook.
Shape experiences for millions of film lovers around the world.
Build performant, scalable, and accessible interfaces that bring our products to life.
Help guide the technical direction of frontend development by championing best practices in code quality, testing, and performance.
Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to turn complex ideas into elegant, intuitive solutions.
6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on frontend.
Strong understanding of core engineering principles — modularity, encapsulation, immutability, composition, OOP, and FP.
Expert knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, React, Node, testing libraries, responsive design, and API design.
Comfortable with vanilla CSS, and opinionated about approaches like CSSinJS, CSS preprocessors, and CSS modules.
Fluency in modern build tools and workflows, such as Webpack, Vite, Babel, npm/yarn, and CI/CD pipelines.
Confident with Git and collaborative workflows.
Curiosity and proactivity — someone who keeps up with the latest frontend developments.
Strong understanding of web performance and cross-browser compatibility issues.
Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication.
We want to make cinema accessible to everyone. We believe people from different backgrounds bring different ideas that foster innovation and engagement, allowing us to attract great people to develop the best experience for our users.
