Role Description
- As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing highly scalable, resilient, and cloud-native microservices using Java and Spring Boot. You will collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and engineering teams to implement solutions that align with established architectural standards, engineering best practices, and long-term technology goals.
- The role requires strong hands-on expertise in developing enterprise-grade distributed systems, with a core focus on performance across both application and database layers. You will actively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, contribute to optimization initiatives, and ensure systems can scale efficiently to support growing business demands.
- As part of our technology modernization journey, you will participate in cloud migration initiatives involving Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and help drive the adoption and integration of Snowflake-based data solutions. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of building high-performance Java microservices, optimizing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, and designing scalable solutions that leverage modern cloud and data platforms.
- You will also provide technical guidance within the team through mentoring, peer code reviews, and by promoting engineering standards that foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Your key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable microservices utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and associated technologies.
- Build highly scalable, resilient, and high-performance distributed applications capable of handling enterprise workloads.
- Drive performance engineering initiatives across application, middleware, and database layers.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize Java microservices through JVM tuning, memory management, garbage collection optimization, thread management, connection pool tuning, and API performance improvements.
- Optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL database solutions through query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, schema design optimization, and database performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Contribute to cloud modernization initiatives and support the adoption of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and cloud-native architecture patterns.
- Design and implement integrations with Snowflake and support data platform modernization initiatives.
- Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD adoption, and operational excellence.
- Mentor and coach engineers to help them grow their technical capabilities and achieve their development goals.
- Contribute to architectural decisions related to scalability, reliability, observability, performance optimization, and cloud adoption.
Your skills and experience
Must Have
- 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java technologies and Microservices.
- Significant experience designing and developing enterprise-scale, highly scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
- Strong expertise in Microservices Architecture, including design patterns, resiliency patterns, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Deep proficiency in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Proven experience in performance optimization and tuning of Java applications and microservices, including:
- JVM tuning and performance analysis
- Memory management and garbage collection optimization
- Thread management and concurrency optimization
- Application profiling and diagnostic tools
- Production performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- API and service response time optimization
- Strong expertise with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience in database performance tuning and optimization, including:
- SQL query tuning
- Execution plan analysis
- Indexing strategies
- Schema and data model optimization
- Database scalability and performance troubleshooting
- Database monitoring and optimization best practices
- Experience working with business-critical systems where performance, scalability, reliability, and availability are essential.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications with Snowflake and understanding modern cloud-based data platform architectures.
- Exposure to Snowflake capabilities such as data ingestion, integration patterns, ETL/ELT processes, and application connectivity.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong understanding of scalability, distributed systems, caching strategies, concurrency, and performance engineering principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable Skills That Will Help You Excel
- Previous experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with messaging and event-streaming platforms such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architecture patterns and managed services on GCP.
- Understanding of Architecture and Design Principles, Algorithms, and Data Structures.
- Experience with observability platforms, monitoring frameworks, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation concepts.
- Experience working with data engineering or analytics platforms.
- Previous experience with Python or other scripting languages.
- Proficiency in Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Maven, Gradle, DevOps, and SRE methodologies.
- Prior experience in technical leadership, mentoring, and guiding development teams.
