As an EMC Engineer specializing in Wearable Technology, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the electromagnetic capabilities of our cutting-edge consumer products. Collaborating directly with our design team, you will contribute to the engineering of Wearable prototypes and future consumer product lines by ensuring electromagnetic compliance and enhancing design quality across all stages. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and cross-functional teamwork to deliver high-volume, consumer technology solutions.
Responsibilities- Lead the EMC grounding and shielding design, working with engineering teams to align system/product constraints with compliance standards.
- Develop and provide design specifications and guidelines, managing risk tradeoffs with cross-functional team partners.
- Explore and incorporate diverse design elements, including sensors, wireless charging, and PCBs, to optimize system performance.
- Design and analyze ESD protection and EMC control for consumer products, including selecting system-level ESD protection devices.
- Conduct system-level ESD testing and troubleshooting based on IEC 61000-4-2 standards.
- Create and implement EMC validation methodologies and detailed engineering test plans, supporting lab experiments for simulation result correlation.
- Utilize simulation and lab data to troubleshoot designs, conduct failure analyses, and drive root cause investigations to enhance product quality.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, interfacing with engineers, technicians, and external vendors to ensure successful task execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in electromagnetic design, measurement, and debugging.
- Proven expertise in system-level ESD design and testing for consumer electronics.
- Hands-on experience with ESD failure mechanisms and electronic device protection, including using ESD guns in a lab setting.
- Deep understanding of electromagnetic fundamentals, including grounding and shielding practices.
- Familiarity with PCB and flexible manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated experience in full product cycles, from design through to manufacturing.
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Over 10 years of experience in design, measurement, and debugging within the EMC domain.
- Proficiency with various test instruments like near field EM scanners, spectrum/network analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Strong system knowledge in areas such as power delivery structural solutions, EMI control, and RF desensitization.
- Expertise in magnetic shielding, and noise and vibration management for optimized product performance.
