DEKA Research & Development is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team working on cutting-edge medical devices. You will have the opportunity to work on every layer of software, from embedded system device drivers and control loops up to cloud connectivity and UI development. You will be part of our cross-disciplinary team, working alongside electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineers to create a product that will improve outcomes and quality of life for millions of people worldwide.

This is an on-site role, remote and hybrid are not available. 


Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and verify operation of embedded software
  • Analyze, create, and update requirements and procedures
  • Solve problems, build products, and make a difference in the world

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or work equivalent, and 5+ years of experience
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in best software practices
  • Experience with Python and C/C++
  • RTOS and embedded systems development (examples include: Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Micro C, embedded Linux)
  • Experience defining software requirements
  • Experience defining requirements, developing, and documenting the architecture of a large software system
  • Experience developing and verifying software test procedures to meet software requirements
  • Experience designing and implementing software/hardware systems for medical devices a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances and technology
  • Must have excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Must have a maker type personality
  • Controls Engineering experience beneficial (but not required)
