The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Draw on deep hands-on electrical engineering experience to create practical technical exercises for engineering organizations across several sectors. Guide a small group of contract and intern engineers, consult directly with senior engineering leaders, and lead an internal research effort that maps out the skills within the discipline.
What you'll do
- Author practical exercises in board layout, schematic capture and circuit analysis for clients in aerospace, robotics and manufacturing.
- Direct a group of contractors and interns, handing out assignments and reviewing the quality of their output.
- Hold discovery conversations with engineering directors and vice presidents to learn how their teams work and shape content to fit.
- Lead a research initiative that decomposes electrical engineering into its component skills and coverage areas.
- Partner closely with the founder and a mechanical engineer on product direction.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 4 to 10 years of experience as an electrical engineer, ideally in a space and defense setting.
- Breadth across electrical domains such as power, avionics, embedded systems and controls.
- Proficiency with at least one ECAD tool, such as Altium or KiCad.
- End-to-end PCB and schematic design experience.
- Senior engineer level or above.
- Experience interviewing or mentoring junior engineers.
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
- Comfort holding technical discussions with senior engineering leaders at client companies.
- Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate.
- Curiosity about electrical engineering beyond the day job, such as personal projects.

- Base salary: USD 130,000 to 200,000 per year
