Job Summary

This position is responsible for the design, development, and verification of assigned electrical wiring and printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies to include cables, plugs, military connectors, and associated pin-outs. In addition, the Senior Electrical Engineering will also be held accountable for peer reviews, department mentoring, and leading small project groups. They will also allocate a significant amount of time responding to the needs of operations, technical services, compliance, and design teams.


Essential Functions

  • Maintain extensive working knowledge of Crystal Group’s electrical design tools for efficient conversion of technical requirements into schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, and circuit card assembly drawings
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards
  • Assist the systems team in researching, designing, and evaluating systems and/or processes to meet customer requirements, ensure designs are producible and error free
  • Provide component-level review and in-depth electrical troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services  
  • Review and provide template updates for electrical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards, as assigned
  • Utilize engineering theory and simulation models to assess feasibility, sustainability, and operating condition effects
  • Direct or coordinate electrical manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projects
  • Design electrical test control apparatus or equipment or develop procedures for testing products
  • Perform detailed electrical calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specifications
  • Evaluate electrical designs or prototypes for energy performance or environmental impact
  • Write electrical performance requirements for product development or engineering projects
  • Provide technical assistance for the Pilot Line build and testing of new products and systems
  • Assists in the training and mentoring of new hires for the department
  • Maintain a high level of quality of designs with few errors
  • Perform electrical calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced understanding and theory of printed circuit design and layouts
  • Proficient with the design of wire harnesses and cables
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and systems integration
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical component industry standards
  • Advanced understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to electrical engineering theory
  • Current industry standards of soldering, wire assemblies, and base assemblies
  • Use of full range instrumentation including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers
  • Multitask to meet several simultaneous project milestones up to and including completion of several projects
  • Build, troubleshoot, and debug circuit boards and assemblies including analog and digital electronics
  • Ability to use various software programs related to engineering theory (Altium Designer, Autodesk, Inventor and AutoCAD)
  • Create, read, and compare technical data sheets
  • Effectively lead small (1-3 member) teams on well-defined projects with moderate supervision, oversight, and coaching provided
  • Identify departmental process deficiencies, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate corrective action(s) with moderate managerial support provided

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person”)
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related engineering field and 5+ years of Electrical Engineering or 15+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of PCB and schematic layout
  • 5+ years of electrical component building experience
  • 5+ years of CAD software related work
  • Extensive knowledge of computer equipment (PC, firewall, switch, data acquisition systems, UPS, server rack equipment, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of advanced testing equipment (bode plot generators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, hall-effect probes, etc.)
  • 1+ year of leadership experience

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floors and testing environments. May require lifting up to 25 lbs, standing for extended periods during product testing.
