Summary:

As the lead electrical engineer on your projects, you'll work within multi-disciplinary teams to architect and develop electronic systems for customers across a wide variety of markets. You'll own the electrical scope from concept through delivery — making the architecture decisions, doing the design work yourself, and serving as the technical point of contact your customer talks to. You'll guide the other electrical engineers contributing to your projects, review their work, and mentor junior team members as they grow. You'll also support the sales team as we bid and quote incoming work, where your architecture concepts and estimates help us win the projects worth having.

How you will spend your time:

Design and Leadership

You'll spend most of your time designing electrical system architectures, block diagrams, power trees and budgets, electrical interface control documents, schematics, and PCB layouts. You'll get your hands dirty and own your designs from start to finish, involving other team members as appropriate to ensure that our designs are successful. That ownership runs through circuit design and capture, PCB layout, design reviews, prototype build, board bring-up and test, debug, integration, and verification, and it ends with the design documentation package.

You'll lead technical design reviews on a regular basis, and you'll review other engineers' schematics and layouts with the same rigor you apply to your own. You'll also be your customer's technical point of contact — giving status and presenting designs. This will occasionally include travel to customer sites for kickoffs or deliveries.

Who You Are

You've been doing this long enough to have taken multiple electronic products from a blank schematic sheet to hardware that shipped and worked. You have a knack for picking up new skills and technologies quickly, and you seek out new challenges rather than waiting for them. You love to own your designs from cradle to grave, and you're deeply invested in making sure your work meets the expectations of your peers and your customers. You're comfortable making architecture decisions under ambiguity, and comfortable revisiting them when something changes. You hold other people's designs to the standard you hold your own, and you can say "this isn't ready yet" in a way that makes the design better and the engineer stronger. You have outstanding attention to detail. You communicate credibly with customers, including when the news isn't what they hoped for.

Above all, people refer to you as an outstanding team member that they enjoy working with.
