This senior-level Electrical Engineer - Power role provides project engineering management and technical leadership for electrical engineering projects serving industrial, commercial, and power infrastructure clients. The position is responsible for overall project execution, technical quality, client interface, and project profitability under the direction of the Business Unit Manager.
Project Management Responsibilities Lead project execution for assigned work ranging up to approximately $3M in value. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing engineering designs and plans for assigned projects.
- Understanding client design intent and translating it into a clear, detailed scope of work.
- Identifying, prioritizing, scheduling, and assigning tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Driving work independently while maintaining budget, managing scope changes, and reporting progress to the Business Unit Manager.
- Overseeing daily project operations, early problem identification, conflict resolution, and team coordination.
- Developing engineering schedules aligned with internal and client requirements.
- Evaluating project progress and communicating necessary changes.
- Assigning and directing work to CAD support.
- Managing engineering-related purchasing and subcontractor requirements.
- Developing costs and preparing proposals for change orders.
- Creating and implementing project cash-flow plans, including accounts receivable collections.
- Supporting or performing project invoicing when no dedicated project manager is assigned.
- Serving as the primary engineering interface with the client throughout all project phases.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Supporting other engineers within the group as needed.
Engineering Responsibilities Perform and oversee advanced electrical engineering design and analysis for commercial and industrial clients, including:
- Design of lighting systems and medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Performing power system studies, including arc flash, coordination, and short-circuit analyses
- Developing Standards of Construction and procurement specifications as required
- Technical writing, including project definitions, status reports, RFIs, client correspondence, and code commentary
- Preparing comprehensive project documentation (status reports, percent-complete estimates, project manuals, meeting minutes, purchase orders, equipment specifications, and price quotes)
- Supporting sales and marketing efforts by identifying opportunities, recommending justified scope changes, networking within targeted industries, and contributing to business development activities
- Performing general administrative tasks associated with project delivery
- Ability to travel up to 10% - 25% to client sites
Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred. A related engineering degree or equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- 7+ years of directly related experience in building systems or power systems electrical engineering. Strong leadership, project management, and client relationship skills are required
- Software Tools – Experience using power systems modeling software such as SKM Powertools, ETAP, EasyPower, etc. is desired
Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, ability to travel distances, ability to mount and dismount equipment, as well as pushing and pulling.

The expected salary range is $115,000 to $170,000 base per year depending on qualifications plus a discretionary bonus and employee stock program.
