Senior Electrical Engineer – Engagement SystemsParsons is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Dahlgren, VA! In this role you will join the fight at an exciting time when naval surface weapons are needed as much as ever. New and emerging threats continue to present challenges that we meet with novel approaches to combat adapting enemy tactics. At Dahlgren, we are working to bring new technology to the Warfighter, continuously improve system performance, and ensure the US Navy maintains the solutions required for ship self-defense while bringing the means to project force.

Project Background
Parsons is providing support to the Gun Weapon System (GWS) program. This USN Program of Record provides engineering solutions for system development, improvement, and modernization to accurately aim and fire the naval surface guns aboard multiple classes of ships in the fleet. GWS is integrated as a certified element of the AEGIS Combat System. Our engineers bring critical skills to support the development, test, integration, and deployment of in-service systems.
What you will be doing
- Develop and maintain system power budgets and power allocation strategies.
- Ensure adequate power availability and margin throughout all operational modes.
- Define power distribution architectures and electrical interfaces.
- Support requirements development, design, integration, test, certification, and fielding activities.
- Analyze system power consumption and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
- Resolve power-related issues discovered during development, integration, test, and operational use.
- Coordinate with subsystem owners to ensure compliance with system power allocations and requirements.
- Provide technical leadership for power distribution design decisions and trade studies.
- Assess power system impacts resulting from design changes, obsolescence issues, and field modifications.
What required skills and experience you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or STEM related 4-year degree or higher
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience with increasing technical responsibility.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Additional supporting experience desired but not required
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience with military, aerospace, defense, transportation, industrial, telecommunications, or other mission-critical systems.
- Prior USN (military or civilian) experience desired
- Experience with AEGIS combat system interfaces, or similar SoS weapons systems desired
- Experience working with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
