Roblox is building a cloud for the metaverse and in this role, you’d be responsible for the strategy, vision, and execution of the infrastructure layer of this platform. The teams that build this platform are responsible for the availability, cost, and productivity of Roblox’s business. Operating across dozens of data centers globally, serving nearly 90 million daily active users every day.
This role will partner with our Compute, Datacenter, and Network engineering teams to build our vision of a “multi Kubernetes cluster data center architecture”, everything including physical server, the rack and cluster design, the network (cluster, datacenter, and WAN), the Kubernetes based infrastructure APIs presented to users, the public cloud extension of these capabilities, and the systems we use to operate that system every day.
In this role you’ll play a key role in the strategic direction of our business. You’ll be directly responsible for the bottom line of Roblox, determining how profitably we operate. You’ll be responsible for key technology evolutions, such as our embrace of GPUs, Kubernetes, Service Mesh and Edge Computing. You’ll enable Roblox to provide new capabilities like Generative AI at scale to our users and creators.
This role requires deep technical acumen across the entire cloud stack, combined with acute business insight. You’ll need to walk out of a meeting with our CFO to set financial guidance to our investors, and into a meeting with our engineering team to discuss how to double the efficiency of our data processing pipelines. You’ll be asked to help coordinate the roadmaps of multiple large engineering teams against multi year roadmaps. You’ll be responsible for the direction of massive investments of both time and money into the future of Roblox.
You will
- Be responsible for the strategy and vision across multiple large engineering teams
- Partner with Engineering, Data science, and Design to build exceptional infrastructure products
- Partner with Engineering and Finance to ensure Roblox achieves best in class economics and a profitable P&L
- Define the goals, work, and metrics that the team uses to execute against large engineering initiatives
- Be the champion and evangelist for our unique approach to infrastructure both within and outside of the company
You have
- 15+ years of experience leading infrastructure, developer, and operations tools / products
- Experience working at a senior level amongst cross functional executive teams leading cross organization initiatives
- Expertise in Infrastructure platform technology and a deep familiarity with industry state of the art
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$422,210—$498,680 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
