The Senior Director, People and Culture will provide the strategic and programmatic leadership of People & Culture to ensure alignment with the organizational mission and values. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure accurate and equitable administration of all human resources programs including compensation, benefits, recruitment, onboarding, retention, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, and training. The Senior Director collaborates with the Chief Operating and Technology Officer to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. 

The Senior Director, People and Culture is a member of the Finance and Administration Team and will report to the Chief Operating and Technology Officer.   

Key Responsibilities  

This position is critical to the success of Power to Decide and requires the ability to develop strategies and lead the organization’s People and Culture work to maintain an engaging organizational culture while also overseeing the execution of routine processes such as payroll and benefits administration.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Develop and implement HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support the organization’s vision, values, and strategic intentions.  
  • Lead the organization in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that promotes a strong organizational culture with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.  
  • Direct and manage the company's talent acquisition, performance management, and professional development strategies. 
  • Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention, especially in a fully remote setting. 
  • Address employee grievances and manage employee relations issues. 
  • Partner with senior leadership to periodically update Power to Decide’s compensation structure and recommend adjustments as needed to ensure internal equity and effective risk management.  
  • Manage and analyze HR metrics to track performance and inform strategic decisions. 
  • Develop and oversee workflows to ensure HR functions run smoothly and efficiently and leverages technology appropriately. 
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and service providers to ensure the seamless delivery of services and benefits to Power to Decide programs and staff.  
  • In partnership with the COTO, ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; collaborate with legal counsel as needed to address matters related to employment, terminations, compensation, benefits, policies, and procedures.  
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in human resources and proactively recommend and implement changes in policies and practices as appropriate.  
  • Supervise and manage the HR Manager.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have/be: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in human resources and management.  
  • Outstanding interpersonal and coaching skills, including patience and the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.  
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing workplace culture initiatives, with a strong understanding of and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.  
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.  
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations.  
  • Strong ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization.  
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and execution skills.  
  • High level of comfort with HR technologies and platforms.  
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with strong follow-through and attention to documentation.  
  • Demonstrated success in managing and developing direct reports. 
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Paylocity, Greenhouse, Monday.com, or similar platforms. 

The Senior Director, People and Culture is an exempt position. Salary is based on market factors and individual experience and abilities. The starting salary range for this position is $133,200 - $153,300. Power to Decide has an excellent benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 403b, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, and generous leave.
