The Senior Director, Communications, Industrial Automation (IA) serves as the senior communications leader for Honeywell Technologies’ IA business, responsible for leading an integrated communications function spanning employee communications, executive communications, media relations, thought leadership, reputation management, change communications and business storytelling.
This individual partners closely with the Industrial Automation President and CEO and leadership team to shape and deliver strategic, enterprise-aligned communications that build awareness, deepen understanding and inspire action across internal and external stakeholders.
As part of an integrated communications function, this leader develops a cohesive narrative that connects internal and external messaging, leveraging company channels, employee engagement events, town halls, multimedia storytelling and integrated change communications plans to inform and unite employees around key priorities and initiatives. In parallel, this individual collaborates with the Media Center of Excellence (COE) to extend these narratives externally by developing aligned messaging, driving meaningful industry and business media coverage around products and initiatives and leading coordinated efforts that protect and elevate Honeywell Technologies’ reputation and brand.
Fluency in AI, analytics and modern communications practices is essential as this leader helps transform the Communications function, measure impact and drive continuous improvement across communication programs.
This individual will have outstanding written and verbal communications skills, with a thorough understanding of digital and social communications channels and how to leverage them internally and externally. This individual will need to meet the needs of a varied set of stakeholders and be comfortable in a dynamic environment with rapidly shifting priorities and a clear focus on accelerating growth.
This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Brand and Communications and matrixes to the Vice President, Human Resources, Industrial Automation. The role is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and execution of an integrated communications strategy for Industrial Automation, aligning employee, executive, media, digital and change communications programs to advance business priorities and strengthen Honeywell's reputation.
• Identify, develop and implement a holistic internal and external communications strategy and communications plans across the business unit that meet business objectives and priorities of both the business and Honeywell Technologies.
• Develop global media programs that are strongly linked to business strategy and performance requirements.
• Lead executive communications and positioning strategies for the Industrial Automation President and CEO, driving employee engagement, thought leadership, visibility and business alignment across internal and external audiences.
• Lead strategic employee communications and engagement efforts that strengthen culture, reinforce business priorities, support organizational effectiveness, enhance the employee experience and deliver compelling messaging across the global Industrial Automation organization.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key reporters/media and manage media inquiries and interview requests.
• Partner on message development and provide media training and coaching as appropriate for key executive spokespeople.
• Develop thought leadership opportunities for executives with the Media COE.
• Lead communications for major business initiatives, transformations, acquisitions, restructurings, leadership transitions and other significant organizational changes, ensuring clear, timely and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee and develop content for press releases, bylined articles, key messages, media statements, Q&A documents and briefings.
• Advocate for the Honeywell Technologies brand and live as a brand ambassador.
• Champion the adoption of AI-enabled communications practices, tools and analytics that improve productivity, audience engagement, measurement and business impact.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing communications team while building future-ready communications capabilities through talent development, functional excellence, innovation and succession planning.
• Ability to travel 10 - 15% of the time.

• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing communications teams while building future-ready communications capabilities through mentorship, talent development and succession planning.
