About the Role:
The Senior Director of Commercial Operations, GTM will be a key member of the Commercial Finance and Operations team, overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the operations strategy. Commercial operations at Gen consists of Sales Operations, Deal Desk, Business Operations, Supply Chain, and Global Incentives (including rebates, revenue share, and sales compensation).
This leader will be responsible for optimizing sales processes, driving operational efficiency, implementing best practices, and delivering actionable insights that enhance the sales team's overall performance. The Senior Director will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the alignment of commercial operations with business goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include:
Sales Strategy & Process Transformation:
- Re-envision sales strategies and operational processes to ensure they are agile, effective, and aligned with broader company goals.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and outdated practices, introducing cutting-edge tools and methodologies that optimize every step of the sales cycle.
- Collaborate with sales leadership to identify gaps in the sales process, crafting solutions that drive both immediate results and long-term growth.
Technology, Automation & Tools implementation:
- Leverage automation and AI-driven solutions to remove manual tasks, allowing the sales and operations teams to focus on high-value activities.
- Ensure that sales technology is aligned with both the needs of the team and the broader business strategy, providing real-time insights that drive results.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work closely with other departments, including Marketing, Finance, and Customer Success, to ensure a seamless flow of information and alignment across the organization.
- Facilitate strong collaboration between the commercial operations team and sales leadership to ensure smooth execution of sales strategies and operational goals.
- Identify opportunities to align cross-functional initiatives with the overall sales strategy, ensuring greater organizational alignment.
Transformational Leadership and Team Development:
- Oversee an organization of ~40 individuals (~5 direct reports), fostering professional growth and retaining valuable talent through coaching and development opportunities.
- Drive the evolution of the sales team, empowering them to adopt new methods, tools, and processes that enhance their capabilities and performance.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of the broader business context and ability to align operational decisions with the organization's strategic direction.
- Skilled in managing projects and initiatives, ensuring deadlines and goals are met while maintaining high standards.
- Ability to develop and execute sales strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Exceptional leadership qualities to inspire, motivate, and lead teams across multiple functions.
- Experience with organizational change, driving process improvements, and adapting strategies to evolving market conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex operational challenges and provide innovative solutions.
- Naturally curious with a passion about the business and related performance.
- 15+ years of experience in sales, sales operations, and/or sales enablement roles, including leadership positions.
