THE OPPORTUNITY:
As the Senior Director of Biostatistics, reporting directly to the Head of Biostatistics, you will be at the forefront of pioneering clinical development programs, leading transformative drug development projects that have the potential to change lives globally. You will be the statistical lead guiding one or more of our cutting-edge infectious disease programs, infusing your expertise to shape the future of clinical trials. You will have the opportunity to mentor a talented team, collaborate with clinicians, data managers, biostatisticians, and statistical programmers. Together, you will strategize, conduct, and analyze groundbreaking clinical trials, ensuring each project is a step forward in cutting-edge medical research.
This role is located in our San Francisco headquarters with an expectation of 4 days per week in office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Drive the direction and strategy for one or more high-impact programs, overseeing clinical trials to groundbreaking real-world data investigations.
- Create development strategies that blend proven best practices with cutting-edge methods.
- Represent Biostatistics on cross-functional teams, providing strategic input, and expert guidance to ensure our clinical programs are statistically robust and pioneering in their approach.
- Craft and communicate comprehensive Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs), including table, figure, and listing (TFL) shells. Develop key documents such as the Cross-functional Data Review (xFDR) plan, Key Reports Memo (KRM), and Data Dissemination Plan (DDP) to streamline and enhance the review, summary, and dissemination of crucial study data and results
- Contributes to documents submitted to Health Authorities globally
- Inspire and mentor, providing team members with guidance and support needed to excel
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING:
- D. in Biostatistics and at 13+ years of relevant work experience, or M.S. in Biostatistics and 16+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency with SAS and R statistical software
- Deep understanding of statistical methods used in drug development
- Experience leading product development programs through submission and approvals
- Demonstrated leadership in biostatistics and with cross functional teams
- Excels in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data to diverse stakeholders
- Experience with regulatory submissions and interactions with health authorities (FDA, EMA, etc.)

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER:
The expected salary range for this position is $235,500 to $329,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
Vir Biotechnology's compensation and benefits are aligned with the current market and commensurate with the person’s experience and qualifications. All full-time employees receive a package that includes compensation, bonus and equity as well as many other Vir Biotechnology benefits and perks such as health and welfare benefit plans, non-accrual paid time off, company shut down for holidays, commuter benefits, childcare reimbursement, education reimbursement, 401K match and lunch each day in the office.
