Company Description

For almost 50 years, Williams has been at the forefront of one of the fastest sports on the planet, being one of the top three most successful teams in history competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. With an almost unrivalled heritage of engineering and racing F1 cars and unforgettable eras that demonstrate it is a force to be reckoned with, the British squad boasts 16 F1 World Championship titles to its name.

Since its foundation in 1977 by the eminent, late Sir Frank Williams and engineering pioneer Sir Patrick Head, the team has won nine Constructors’ Championships, in association with Cosworth, Honda and Renault. Its roll call of drivers is legendary, with its seven Drivers’ Championship trophies being lifted by true icons of the sport: Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The team has made history before and is out to make it again with a long-term mission to evolve and return to the front of the grid.

Job Description

The Opportunity A lot of designers worry that moving in house means trading interesting work for a single brand book and a slow calendar. That isn’t the role on offer here. Williams F1 Team is rebuilding what its brand means in public, and digital is where most fans meet it  the website, the app, the campaigns that wrap around the season’s biggest moments. You’ll be hands on, shipping work every week alongside an evolving brand system that you’ll help refine as you go. The brand isn’t finished. You won’t be inheriting a museum. This isn’t a social content seat we have a dedicated social team who own the day to day there. Your remit is the bigger, more considered work: the website, the app, integrating with marketing campaigns, performance driven creative, and the digital moments around special races and fan activations. If you’re a strong mid weight pushing into Senior, or a Senior who wants to put their craft against something they actually care about, this is the kind of in house role that doesn’t feel in house.

What You’ll Do:

Website, App & Product Moments

  • Design and refine pages, components, editorial moments and email templates for williamsf1.com and the Williams F1 Team app — these are your primary canvases.
  • Concept and design launch assets for new app features, product drops and marketing campaigns the wider team is bringing forward.
  • Design user experiences across web, app, and fan platforms — memberships, content hubs and interactive features — producing wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • Translate fan behaviours, data and testing insights into intuitive, high performing journeys that drive conversion and engagement.
  • Partner with product, engineering and data teams to deliver and iterate on digital experiences.
  • Build a body of work overtime that visibly improves how the brand expresses itself on its owned digital surfaces.

Fan Growth & Performance Creative

  • Design high performing creative for paid and organic channels — social, digital, ecommerce and app.
  • Develop and iterate creative assets for multichannel performance marketing campaigns (Meta, TikTok, Google, williamsf1.com, Williams F1 App, and more).
  • Own creative testing cycles — A/B and multivariate testing — to continuously improve engagement and conversion.
  • Rapidly iterate assets based on performance signals (CTR, engagement, retention, conversion).
  • Develop scalable creative systems and templates for continuous experimentation.
  • Build assets that support the full fan journey — from acquisition through to engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with growth, media and analytics teams to translate performance data into creative improvement.

Key Campaign Moments

  • Lead the creative for the season’s biggest activations — special races like the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the Las Vegas GP, custom livery reveals, fanzone activations and the digital campaigns that wrap around them.
  • Partner closely with the Fan Growth & Performance team to deliver high quality assets on fast turnarounds — the calendar is unforgiving and a good idea on Tuesday often needs to ship on Thursday.
  • Create content for both race and non race weekend storytelling and always on digital to social loops, optimised for reach and interaction.
  • Contribute to specific social led campaigns alongside our dedicated social team, bringing the bigger campaign moments when a unified creative is needed.

Brand & Design System

  • Work alongside the Senior Design Manager and the rest of the creative team to evolve Williams’ visual identity — informed by what’s actually performing in market and feedback from the teams using the brand day to day.
  • Help maintain and improve brand guidelines, motion principles and component library as we ship more work.
  • Champion a fan first and data informed mindset across all outputs.
  • Spot opportunities where the brand could be sharper, weirder, more confident — and bring them forward

How You’ll Work

  • Take a brief end to end — understand the ask, propose a direction, present it, take feedback and ship.
  • Bridge brand storytelling with performance marketing and product UX, ensuring consistency across marketing creative, paid media and product design.
  • Partner with marketing, fan engagement, content producers, photographers, motion designers and external partners.
  • Manage your own workload across multiple parallel briefs at race week tempo.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating both performance driven creative (paid social, campaigns) and digital product / UX work (web, app). Sports, entertainment, lifestyle or premium consumer brand backgrounds are especially welcome — but a brilliant portfolio from anywhere matters more than the industry on your CV.
  • Your portfolio shows real campaigns and live products, not just unbriefed concepts.
  • Strong typographic and layout craft across digital, campaign and motion led formats.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma.
  • Proven experience designing for paid media and growth focused environments, with strong understanding of creative testing, optimisation and data informed design.
  • Comfortable working across web, app and campaign formats — you understand that a hero banner, an app onboarding screen and a Silverstone fanzone graphic each demand different thinking, even when they’re telling the same brand story.
  • Collaborative, calm under pressure, opinionated about craft but not precious about feedback. You can work fast when the calendar demands it without dropping the quality bar.
  • Genuinely care about Formula 1 — or are clearly the kind of person who falls hard for the sports they get close to.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media or a related field preferred; portfolio over credentials.
