About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to play a key role in managing and enhancing our infrastructure. This is a hands-on role for a talented engineer who is passionate about building robust, decentralized systems and is not afraid to tackle complex build automation challenges. You will be a critical contributor to our platform's stability, scalability, and automation.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- CI/CD & Automation:
- Manage, improve, and extend our CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Implement and maintain automated build processes for applications, including those built with Unity and Unreal Engine.
- Platform & Service Development:
- Contribute to the development of a client-facing service by building and maintaining its backend components and deployment pipelines.
- Support and maintain existing internal services, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance improvements.
- P2P & Web3 Infrastructure:
- Work on key components of our P2P node infrastructure, collaborating with the team responsible for node management.
- Help implement and monitor systems for node auto-discovery and data replication.
- Collaboration & Best Practices:
- Collaborate closely with platform and development teams to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
- Help define and promote DevOps best practices across the engineering team, focusing on automation and observability.
What You Bring (Qualifications & Experience)
- Core Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python and Go (Golang). Familiarity with or interest in Rust is a strong asset.
- DevOps & Cloud Expertise: Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using tools like Terraform. Proven hands-on skills with Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes. Significant experience deploying and managing infrastructure in a major cloud provider like GCP or AWS.
- Custom Infrastructure Automation: Demonstrable experience developing custom infrastructure modules (e.g., with Terraform or Ansible) for non-traditional environments, such as bare-metal, hybrid-cloud, or custom P2P networks.
- Web3 & P2P Concepts: A good understanding of peer-to-peer architectures, service discovery, and data replication.
- Complex Build Automation: Experience automating the build process for large, compiled software. The key is understanding how to manage complex dependencies and large binary artifacts. Direct experience with the build and asset pipelines of Unity and/or Unreal Engine is a strong plus, but not required.
- Backend Skills: Experience in building and maintaining backend services and APIs.
- Mindset: A proactive, problem-solving attitude. You enjoy taking responsibility for your work and collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Mawari’s Canadian office is at the Waterloo Accelerator Centre - a modern and vibrant facility adjacent to the University of Waterloo campus. It’s conveniently located on the Ion elect light rail systems running North-South here in Waterloo Region. The Waterloo Accelerator is a modern work environment with plenty of natural light, open space and flexible meeting areas as well as free coffee/tea service.

What we are building
The Mawari Network is a decentralized 3D XR content delivery platform that breaks the bottlenecks of infrastructure supply for real-time rendering and the lack of local compute power on XR devices. We do this by orchestrating a decentralized network of GPU-powered nodes that run the Mawari Engine, a proprietary technology stack that enables real-time rendering of interactive 3D content and streams it efficiently to mobile XR devices at scale. We believe Web3 principles, in conjunction with our core technology, will accelerate the scalability of the Mawari Network.
