Senior Developer, Manufacturing Applications
Norcross, GA
Position Summary
Working within the IT organization, the successful candidate will focus on supporting the shop floor applications which enable Lightera digital manufacturing capabilities. Operating in a complex, fast-paced environment requires a strong understanding of how the business process, manufacturing process and IT systems interact. The candidate will be expected to gather and assess the requirements, design, develop and support multiple native and 3rd party applications. The successful candidate will be a member of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) group based out of Norcross, GA. Occasional travel (domestic and international) may be required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of focused experience on delivering manufacturing shop floor solutions using current generation Industry 4.0 shop floor technologies:
- Ignition (Perspective/Vision)
- Unified Name Space (UNS with MQTT)
- MES/SCADA platforms (Fuuz, Kanoa, Sepasoft…)
- Demonstrated ability to translate business demands into structured software requirement and design documents. Including typical MES requirements associated with capabilities such as:
- OEE, Production Tracking, Quality, Traceability and Genealogy
- Exposure to Oracle and/or MS SQL databases and the associated development platforms
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a team, while doing application development
- Demonstrated understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, waterfall…), the tools associated with each, along with the tradeoffs. Plus associated Source Code control technologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Microsoft .NET Framework, MS Visual Studio 2022 or greater and the associated software languages (ASP.NET, C++ and C#.NET). Plus Python/Jython & JAVA
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years exposure to multiple MES platforms and associated technologies
- 10+ years exposure to manufacturing application development, continuous improvement, and support for 24x7 global production environments.
- Experience working with and guiding external system integrators and 3rd party solution providers
- Professional experience with external system integration challenges (ERP, Quality, Maintenance, HR…) as part of an overall shop floor solution
- Ability to articulate the ISA95 model, the associated data flow architecture, and how that model applies to manufacturing within an Industry 4.0 standard
- Significant exposure to current generation data models, tools and systems. Including conceptual understanding of UNS (Unified Name Space), data flow and data architecture options.
- Significant experience with shop floor data technologies such as MQTT, Snowflake, Kafka, OPC UA along with various SCADA systems, PLCs and historians
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence tools and technologies such as Claude, ChatGPT…
- Exposure to multiple programming languages, Web Development Methodologies (MVC, Razor, REST/SOAP and JSON), plus ERP systems (SAP & JDE) would be an added advantage
