Position Summary:

The Senior System Developer provides technical leadership in the design, development, integration, and delivery of software solutions across the enterprise. This role combines hands-on software development with solution design, technical oversight, and collaboration with business and IT teams to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

The ideal candidate is an experienced developer who enjoys solving business problems through technology and can lead solutions from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. This position balances hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring, system integration, and collaboration across IT and business functions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize development efforts, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, integrate, and support enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, and software solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design through deployment and production support.
  • Review architecture, technical designs, and code to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with development standards.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership and direction to internal and offshore developers, including assigning priorities, reviewing deliverables, resolving blockers, and coordinating development activities.
  • Ensure offshore development partners meet expectations for quality, security, documentation, coding standards, timelines, and knowledge transfer.
  • Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Mentor developers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and development best practices.
  • Establish and maintain development standards, coding guidelines, documentation, source control, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure applications integrate effectively with enterprise platforms and meet infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, and operational requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize applications, reduce technical debt, automate processes, and improve system performance and reliability.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, development tools, cloud services, and AI capabilities that can improve development efficiency or provide business value.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting production software applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, application design, and development best practices.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and ensuring software quality.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders to define and deliver technical solutions.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience managing or coordinating offshore development teams or external software vendors.
  • Experience leading technical projects from requirements through deployment.
  • Experience mentoring developers and helping establish engineering standards and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Experience building APIs, integrations, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, or e-commerce environments.
