MSA is seeking a Senior Designer of Engineering Systems to serve as a lead technical contributor on multidisciplinary engineering projects. This role operates at an advanced level compared to the Designer of Engineering Systems position, taking responsibility for larger projects and providing leadership in design execution.
You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams while mentoring developing staff and contributing to client relationships and project delivery. This position requires strong technical expertise, professional judgment, and the ability to guide complex design solutions from concept through construction.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical Design & Project DeliveryServe as the lead designer or primary designer on complex engineering projects.
Apply engineering principles to investigations, studies, design, and construction-related services.
Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses for project design.
Utilize digital tools such as BIM and CADD
Stamp and/or certify engineering studies and construction plans where applicable.
Ensure design quality and accuracy while supporting MSA’s QA/QC standards.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Communicate technical information and support consensus around engineering solutions.
Serve as a liaison with clients, contractors, and permitting agencies.
Support proposal development, project scoping, and estimating activities.
Mentor developing staff and provide technical guidance.
Share knowledge through Communities of Practice, training, and collaboration across service lines.
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field.
14+ years of relevant post-graduate engineering experience.
Strong understanding of engineering principles and design practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, BIM, CADD, or similar tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Advanced collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Experience mentoring and supporting developing staff.
Wisconsin Designer of Engineering Systems (DES) License required.
Additional industry licenses or certifications may be beneficial depending on specialty.
Experienced technical designer comfortable leading complex engineering work.

BEST-IN-INDUSTRY BENEFITSThe salary for this position ranges from $88,000 to $142,000, with higher compensation possible for candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
