Job Description Summary:

Position Objective:
Lead the concepting, design, and execution of engaging, high-performing email campaigns that support overarching marketing strategy and brand vision across all channels. This role is responsible for driving best-in-class email creative—from ideation through production and optimization—while managing and mentoring a team of designers and partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders and external agencies.
The pay range for this position is expected to be $108,000 -118.000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and agency partners to develop high-impact, conversion-driven email templates aligned to seasonal strategies and integrated 360° marketing campaigns. 

  • Concept and design compelling, on-brand creative for a range of marketing and transactional email communications, ensuring consistency with brand standards while applying email best practices and strong visual design principles. 

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the email design team through all phases of development—from concept through creative reviews, production, and final delivery. 

  • Own and drive the email creative pipeline, ensuring alignment to briefs, business goals, timelines, and deadlines. Facilitate project kickoffs, lead internal reviews, and present creative to marketing and channel stakeholders. 

  • Champion digital innovation by collaborating with Creative, Marketing, E-commerce, and agency teams to implement best practices—ensuring all emails are responsive, accessible, scalable, and optimized across devices and platforms. 

  • Leverage performance insights, testing (A/B), and industry trends to continuously optimize creative and improve engagement, conversion, and overall campaign effectiveness. 

  • Contribute to broader 360° marketing initiatives, including ecommerce assets, paid and organic social, and other digital touchpoints as needed.

Candidate Profile 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Art, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • 5+ years of design experience in an in-house retail or agency environment, including at least 3 years focused on email design; prior leadership or management experience required. 

  • Strong digital portfolio showcasing excellence in email design, typography, layout, and dynamic or interactive content—preferably within a retail or consumer brand. 

  • Deep understanding of email marketing best practices, including responsive design, accessibility, deliverability constraints, and performance optimization. 

  • Expertise in UX/UI principles, design systems, and designing for desktop and mobile experiences. 

  • Experience leveraging A/B testing and data insights to inform design decisions and improve performance metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, and conversions. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat); experience with motion/animation (After Effects, GIF creation) a plus. 

  • Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Email Service Providers (ESPs), and CRM platforms. 

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and work effectively across cross-functional teams and leadership levels. 

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and solutions-oriented, with a positive approach to feedback and change. 

  • Proficiency in Mac OS and common business tools (Excel, Google Workspace, PowerPoint); experience with project management tools is a plus. 

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, in addition to a full range of generous medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
