Senior Database Developer

Database Architecture, Design & Development:

• Design relational and distributed database schemas for scalability, performance, and normalisation. 
  
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions.
  
• Define and enforce data modelling standards.
  
• Support both OLTP and OLAP environments.
  

Performance Tuning & Optimization:

•  Perform advanced query tuning, indexing strategies, and plan analysis
  
•  Identify and resolve bottlenecks and slow queries
  
• Optimize large-volume transactions and reporting performance across databases
  
• Automate monitoring and alerting of performance issues
  

Database Administration and Environment Management:

• Manage deployments, patches, backups, restores, and upgrades of Oracle/MySQL environments
  
• Implement high-availability and failover solutions
  
• Ensure data security, access controls, and audit readiness
  
• Design strategies for replication and data migration
  

Backend and Full-Stack Integration:

• Work with backend developers (Python, Java) to integrate database logic into applications
  
• Design and consume RESTful APIs to facilitate secure data exchange
  
• Participate in full-stack development with occasional involvement in frontend tasks (HTML/CSS/JS)
  
• .NET Framework, .NET CORE
  

Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product Managers, and UX teams
  
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos
  
• Represent database engineering in cross-departmental forums
  

Documentation, Standards & Governance:

• Create and maintain technical documentation, ER diagrams, SOPs, and version history
  
•  Promote database best practices, naming conventions, and change control policies
  
•  Contribute to SKO’s internal knowledge base and technical wiki
  

Cloud Data Strategy & BI Tool Integration:

• Recommend and prototype cloud-native DB solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL)
  
• Explore integration with BI/reporting platforms such as SSRS, Power BI, Metabase
  
• Develop ETL/ELT data pipelines as required for analytics initiatives
  

Mentoring & Continuous Improvement:

• Guide junior team members and perform code reviews
  
• Identify skills gaps and propose internal training sessions
  
• Lead database-focused proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives and tech evaluations
  

Linux Environment & Shell Scripting

Cloud & BI Tool Experience (Bonus Skills)

Proven track record working on complex SQL systems, backend integrations, and performance tuning

• Database Platforms: Oracle, MySQL
  
• Languages: SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript
  
• Frameworks/Tools: Oracle Apex, REST APIs, SSRS/SSIS, Shell Scripting
  
• Operating Systems: Windows, Linux (preferred)
