The Role
Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer to support the design, development, and optimization of database systems and open-source and cloud-based technologies. In this role, you will work closely with clients and internal teams to understand business needs, develop scalable data solutions, and ensure database performance, security, and integrity. Your contributions will help drive data-driven decision-making and support the organization's ongoing innovation initiatives.

Software Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with relational database management systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and data manipulation, query optimization, and database schema design
  • Experience with database scripting and automation tools
  • Working familiarity with open-source database solutions and cloud-based database services
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and best practices for database development
  • Experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and applying security best practices in database environments

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud database offerings such as Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or similar services
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
  • Data migration and data integration experience
Overall Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable database solutions aligned with client requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into optimized database schemas and solutions
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and scripts for efficiency and performance
  • Implement security, data masking, and compliance controls to safeguard sensitive data
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database or query performance issues promptly
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database structures, data flows, and technical processes
  • Participate in reviews of database design and implementation to uphold quality standards
  • Work with teams to support data migration projects and integrate new data sources into existing systems
  • Share knowledge of best practices and new trends in database technologies to foster continuous improvement

  • Programming Languages:

    • Essential: SQL, T-SQL, PL/pgSQL
    • Preferred: Python, PowerShell, Bash scripting for automation
  • Databases & Data Management:

    • Essential: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL
    • Preferred: Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, NoSQL solutions
  • Cloud Technologies:

    • Preferred: Cloud database services such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or similar

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 8+ years in database development, data management, or related roles
  • Proven experience creating and optimizing relational databases and data schemas
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, troubleshoot, and maintain high-performing database solutions in enterprise environments
  • Experience with open-source or cloud-hosted databases
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and understanding client requirements is a plus
  • Alternative pathways include extensive project experience, certifications, or specialized training in data management
Day-to-Day Activities
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database scripts
  • Design and implement database schemas to support new features and applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues for performance and security
  • Collaborate with application developers, data analysts, and architects to align on data solutions
  • Participate in database review sessions, testing, and deployment activities
  • Support data migration, backup, recovery, and security protocols
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and continuously improve database practices
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Engineer, Oracle Database, or AWS/Azure data certifications are a plus
  • Proven track record of delivering reliable, scalable database solutions in enterprise or financial environments
