About the Role:

The Senior Data Services Engineer in our eXpert Data Services (XDS) team is a key driver of model performance and data quality, focused on accelerating time-to-value by training and fine-tuning high-performance Machine Learning models within the Hyperscience platform. You will be one of the team’s technical specialist in data processing, quality assurance (QA), and model iteration. This role works in close collaboration with the Solutions Architecture (SA) team, providing the critical data expertise necessary for successful customer deployments.

This is a remote-flexible role based in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Model Performance: support with configuration, training, and fine-tuning of customer-specific AI models using Hyperscience tooling (Hypercell), ensuring models are iterated and deployed to achieve targeted performance outcomes.
  • Ensure Data Quality & Process Excellence: Independently lead complex data annotation and Quality Assurance (QA) projects, overseeing and working with customer data to ensure high-quality training sets, while defining and championing team best practices and operational guidelines.
  • Help Accelerate Deployment Cycles: Act as a project management and data liaison, ensuring structured documentation (Jira, notes), effective meetings, and clear, regular updates to internal and external stakeholders to accelerate successful model deployment and overall project time-to-value.
  • Resolve Model Performance Escalations: support with deep-dive analytical troubleshooting and root cause analysis on model performance issues that require recalibration.
  • Drive Platform Improvement: Act as a cross-functional liaison with Product, Design, and Engineering, translating complex client data requirements and model performance insights into actionable product feedback.
  • Mentor & Scale Expertise: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on data management, model tuning best practices, and Hyperscience platform mastery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience & Scope: 3+ years of progressive experience in a technical consulting, software services, or data operations role, with proven expertise in enterprise implementation and escalation management.
  • Data Acumen: Proven ability to rapidly learn and master new software platforms and interfaces (like the Hypercell platform), coupled with meticulous attention to detail and strong proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel/G-Sheets) for data analysis and QA.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to run effective meetings, maintain structured notes/documentation (e.g., Jira), and provide clear, structured updates on project status.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent verbal and written communication suitable for both technical teams and client data stakeholders.
  • English Fluency: Must be fluent in written and spoken English to effectively communicate with global clients and cross-functional stakeholders.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • ML Model Experience: Direct experience with the training, fine-tuning, or iteration of Machine Learning models is highly beneficial.
  • Data Expertise: Experience troubleshooting technical problems or working directly with large, complex data sets (e.g., PII) in a corporate setting.
  • Technical Background: Familiarity with scripting or experience working with different software integration solutions (APIs, IT Infrastructure).
  • Educational Background: Relevant degree (or equivalent ongoing studies) in a technical field such as IT, Economics, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
