Position: Senior Data Scientist
Job Location: 680 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Stay up-to-date on the latest machine learning and deep learning algorithms that power Personalization on Walmart's website and stores. Stay proficient on big data technologies such as Hive and Map-Reduce framework, build algorithms to be able to handle massive amounts of data generated on the web, and make data-driven inferences at scale. Work with the latest data science and software engineering technologies being used within the Personalization team such as but not limited to Python, Hive, Map-Reduce framework, and Bash scripting, and Machine Learning packages such as Scikit-Learn and Numpy. Work with other team members in Personalization to deliver key projects. Adhere to the best practices for software development such as coding styles, code reviews from peers, continuous build with Jenkins, and integrated deployment with OneOps. Design different components in Personalization backend systems, from data collection to enabling machines to make data-driven decisions at scale, thus building highly scalable and relevant solutions to drive key business projects. Develop new machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to achieve the business goal. Clearly articulate work and document, track, and present accomplished tasks through tools such as Jira, Github, and Confluence. Analyze customer and member data to build state-of-the-art personalized member acquisition and retention models.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience implementing and building production pipelines using Python. Experience with social statistical analysis using SPSS and SAS. Experience designing A/B tests and analyzing the results of A/B tests from a statistical view. Experience with statistical programming using R and SQL. Experience building Deep Learning models using Pyspark, Sklearn, Pytorch, and Tensorflow. Experience analyzing time-series data and developing forecasting models. Experience reducing dimension of large-scale data using Autoencoders. Experience with deep learning models including CNNs, RNNs, and LSTMs. Experience designing node embeddings using graph neural networks. Experience analyzing financial data and generating business insights. Experience using Bash and Github. Experience utilizing public cloud-based tools on data processing and scaling jobs. Experience with Natural Language Processing techniques on word embeddings. Experience designing and testing recommendation algorithms using collaborative filtering, content-based methods, and context-sensitive approaches. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $138,911/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
