 Using machine learning to optimise search results. Inspiring our users with great recommendations. Brainstorming about new ways we can improve Marktplaats with machine learning models. Does this sound exciting?

As a (Senior) Data Scientist, you will work on models that improve the user experience on our platform. You are involved in all phases of creating data products, from understanding the business need and data exploration, to the productionizing of the models that create an impact on the lives of so many people. We are looking for Medior and Senior Data Scientists, based on experience.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team with fellow data scientists and engineers, together you are responsible for building and improving these models that change our platform. You ensure high standards for our machine learning solutions and (coding) best practices. You also drive a data-driven mentality by presenting your work to the company and brainstorming with teams on the endless possibilities of data. 

What you will do

• You find great opportunities to improve our platform with data products

• You build data products that impact millions of users, from data exploration through model selection and evaluation to implementation

• You work on interesting models, like recommendations or search ranking

• You take on a leading role in designing new products and ensuring high standards for our machine learning solutions and code

• You coach other team members (depending on experience)

• You work with stakeholders to define needs, report on progress and present findings

• The way of working in the team is elevated because of your contributions to our data capabilities

• You drive the data-driven mentality of the company by presenting and brainstorming about data and its possibilities

Who you are

• You have 3+ years of experience with Machine Learning, and have advanced knowledge of e.g. NLP, clustering, recommender systems and/or ranking algorithms

• You have 3+ years of experience in python, and experience in ensuring coding standards and best practices

• You have a strong drive to understand our data and users and build impactful data products

• Your models have gone to production and you have experience in iterating and improving them

• You have experience with Big Data technologies and languages, e.g. Spark and MLFlow

• Preferably, you have a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or other quantitative fields

You are a current resident of the Netherlands and you are legally able to work here.
