The opportunity
This role sits within our Home Buying Credit Risk team and focuses on delivering high-priority initiatives that directly influence lending decisions and business performance.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will combine strong statistical foundations with advanced machine learning techniques to enhance credit risk models and decisioning. While there is exposure to emerging AI capabilities, the core of this role is grounded in traditional machine learning and predictive modelling.
Success in this role comes from balancing deep technical expertise with strong commercial understanding translating model improvements into meaningful business outcomes such as improved approval rates, profitability, and risk management.
Key responsibilities:
Design, build, and deploy machine learning models to enhance credit risk decisioning
Lead end-to-end model development, from feature engineering through to production deployment
Improve model performance to drive better customer and business outcomes
Translate complex business problems into scalable data science solutions
Partner closely with stakeholders across product, risk, and technology
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
Strong foundation in Statistics, Probability, and Machine Learning.
Extensive experience in building and deploying Machine Learning Models end-to-end.
Experience in credit risk (highly regarded), or adjacent domains such as pricing or financial services.
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of how data science drives business outcomes.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Curiosity and willingness to explore new techniques while applying practical, explainable solutions.
Technical skills:
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Experience with Machine Learning frameworks and Model Deployment.
Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with modern AI approaches: Generative AI, LLMs.
