Role Description:

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data platforms that power high-volume, data-driven applications. This role focuses on building reliable data pipelines, enabling analytics at scale, and leveraging modern AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to improve engineering efficiency and quality.

This position is located in San Diego, CA and has the work schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day work from home. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms

  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large, complex datasets

  • Build and manage data solutions using Databricks and Spark

  • Develop backend data services using C# / .NET

  • Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate development

  • Design efficient data models and ensure high performance and reliability

  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to deliver production systems

  • Ensure data quality, availability, and performance across systems

  • Lead technical design decisions and mentor other engineers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Strong experience with data pipelines and ETL frameworks

  • Experience building and scaling large data systems

  • Experience with AWS-based data platforms and services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise with Databricks / Apache Spark, C# / .NET, and SQL/database design

  • Experience with AI/ML data pipelines

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code or similar)

  • Experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)

  • Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices

This position offers a base salary range from $124,000 to $190,000 a year, determined by relevant skills and experience, and a generous benefits plan.
