Senior Data Engineer

pureIntegration is a technology consulting firm with 22+ years of experience servicing Fortune 100 clients headquartered in the DC area. We serve clients in the fastest growing industry of communications, media, and entertainment. 

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Ad Tech Media practice. In this role, you will be collaborating with client stakeholders and pureIntegration business and technology consultants to design and build data strategies, capabilities, and products that solve core industry challenges.   

The ideal candidate will have experience in areas such as data architecture as part of software projects, schema design, modeling, data architectures, data enrichment, profiling, lineage, and normalization.  Given this role’s focus in the Ad Tech industry, the ideal candidate will have either prior business-level understanding of ad tech data schemas or show the aptitude and desire to build this knowledge.  

This role is expected to be hands-on while also driving architecture and design, with potential for oversight of work being done by data analysts or other junior team members.  

This is a full-time Hybrid position. The annual base salary range is $130,000 – $150,000. Candidates will be paid within this range based on their work experience and skills. (NO C2C). Candidates are also eligible for our full list of benefits linked here.

**MUST HAVE DATA ARCHITECTURE AND DATA PIPELINING EXPERIENCE** 

Responsibilities: 

• Using data architecture and engineering experience, drive meetings with customer counterparts to design end-to-end data flow to support new capabilities. 
• Develop subject matter expertise in the business rules needed to drive data transformations necessary to support these capabilities. 
• Use a combination of open-source, commercial, and cloud-native capabilities to design data architectures that both meet system design and performance requirements, but also do so with long-term cost and maintenance in mind. 
• Perform data collection, analysis, validation, reporting, and visualizations to convey analysis and insights results. 
• Work within a team of software, DevOps, and QA engineers to design, build, and test data-centric applications. 
• Work in a team utilizing Agile methodologies, building and maintaining project backlog to enable data and software architecture, driving user stories, and enabling other engineering team members to be part of the build of new capabilities. 
• Extract and analyze data from various sources, including databases, manual files, and other data sets (both structured and unstructured), normalize, and create supersets to perform analysis. 
• Provide technical leadership both within the project team and guidance and knowledge transfer to end clients. 
• Ability to think outside of the norm of tabular data. Ability to correlate data to define a business narrative. 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Equivalent 
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect or Engineer, with demonstrable experience in leading the design of new data architectures from understanding source systems through data transformation and output 
• Familiarity with AdTech domain data is a strong plus 
• Proficiency with Power BI data stacks is a plus in understanding existing market solutions 
• Knowledge of common data architecture tooling, such as relational and non-relational databases, open table formats, object storage concepts, and tools such as dbt, Trino, AirFlow, Snowflake, Big Query, PowerBI or Databricks 
• Demonstrable experience in building data architectures that underpin application designs 
• Direct experience in documenting data requirements, processes, and validating data components. 
• Ability to consolidate large data sets and report to identify trends, correlations, inconsistencies/consistencies, etc. 
• Experience with functional languages such as Python or Go is a plus 
• Strong analytical and organizational skills are essential. 
• Ability to see the big picture 
• Ability to partner and collaborate effectively with client team members and other data analysts/engineers.
