Position Summary

An Effectual Senior Data Architect is an individual who specializes in designing, implementing, and managing complex data streaming architectures using Apache Kafka and Confluent technologies. The ideal candidate is one who will flourish in a dynamic setting, prioritizing client satisfaction, work well in teams, and demonstrate an ability to implement ideas that foster innovation and ongoing development. This position has a mid-West location preference, along with a requirement to perform work on Central Standard Time. You must be able to travel to be on-site with client in the Chicago area regularly.

A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Data Architect

A Senior Data Architect has an extensive understanding of data and its intricacies, combined with robust marketing and analytical abilities. Additionally, you must possess a firm grasp of statistics, applied mathematics, as well as expertise in security and governance. The Confluent Kafka architect role involves tasks such as: Solution Design; Component Selection; Scalability & Performance; Integration; Security & Compliance; Troubleshooting and more. Due to the expectation of their well-rounded knowledge and skillsets, their daily responsibilities extend beyond designing data solutions. They actively engage in various tasks, such as participating in meetings, collaborating with team members, and utilizing a diverse range of tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive an architectural vision to support continued aggressive growth of our clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to understand their data requirements, business objectives, and technical constraints.
  • Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business goals, industry best practices, and scalability requirements.
  • Develop well architected Domain Driven solutions, optimized for cost, operations, performance, reliability and security.
  • Define data integration, migration, and transformation strategies to ensure seamless data flow across systems and platforms.
    Develops and drives the cloud data strategy along with the introduction of new emerging technologies and AWS services, cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring strategies.
  • Designs target state Cloud Architecture, partnering with other areas, such as Cloud Application Engineers, Cloud Infra Architects, and Cloud Engineering and Development teams.
  • Develops Reusable Patters for Data application development in AWS to deploy and modernize applications, provide governance around adoption, and affect application development teams on roadmaps and designs.
  • Develops short – and – long-range product and service strategies and plans. Oversees the implementation of operating plans for specified area of responsibility.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks for data storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Create and maintain data architecture documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and data lineage.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure data architecture guidelines are followed during system design and implementation.
  • Ability to lead engineering team and consulting project team to drive technical outcomes with & for our clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • 8+ years hands-on design and implementation experience in data architecture landscape, including migrating legacy platform to big data platform.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and building SQL, no-SQL, big data, GraphDB, APIs, Kafka, and streaming solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in several of the following technical disciplines: application development, middleware, database management or operations, Kafka, Confluent, security integration.
  • Proficient in defining current and future state Data Architectures.
  • In depth knowledge of AWS platform
  • Experience migrating on-prem applications to cloud using Refactoring, Rearchitecting and Re-platforming approach including 12 factor app approach.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques, data warehousing concepts, and database management systems.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing data solutions using relational databases and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with data integration technologies such as ETL/ELT tools and data integration patterns
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data-related services (S3, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data security best practices.
  • Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka and/or Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka certification
  • 3+ years in experience in professional services / consulting
  • Sales engineering, sales solutioning and Client RFP response experience preferred.

Salary Range for this position: $118,500-$192,500
