About Marktplaats
Marktplaats is one of the Netherlands' leading online marketplaces, helping make commerce more sustainable by giving products an extended life. With over 2.1 million buyers and sellers visiting our platform every day, around 350,000 new listings added daily and users spending an average of 22 minutes per visit, we're building a platform that people use and trust. Every connection we enable helps people save money, earn money and reduce waste. As part of Adevinta, one of Europe's leading online classifieds groups, we're building products that make buying and selling second-hand products simpler, safer and better for everyone.
This role sits within our Product & Technology function in our Amsterdam office, home to over 300 talented professionals, where cross-functional teams design, develop and scale the products that millions of users rely on every day across our Benelux marketplaces, Marktplaats and 2dehands/2ememain.
Our teams are multi-functional, bringing together product managers, UX designers, developers, marketers and analysts. The Analytics team supports them by fostering a data-driven mindset, uncovering opportunities and enabling informed decisions across product, business and marketing. You will help answer questions like: What matters most to buyers when purchasing a car? How can we increase conversion and customer lifetime value? Which marketing channels truly drive incremental growth?
What You Will Do
The challenge: Turning vague, ambiguous business questions into focused analyses that lead to action, while strengthening how data is captured, modelled and defined (tracking, event modelling, metrics), so stakeholders can trust the numbers behind their decisions.

What You Will Do
- Partner with product managers, commercial leads and marketers to understand their goals and the business context behind their requests, then turn them into an analytical agenda that drives real decisions
- Spot opportunities and risks before they're raised: drops in conversion, shifts in monetisation, changes in competitive positioning and emerging user behaviour, from how buyers search to what makes a listing convert
- Build dashboards and reports that tell a clear story, not just display numbers, centred on the KPIs that matter for revenue, retention and growth, and decide whether a dashboard, a deeper analysis or an experiment is the right tool
- Work with large-scale, complex datasets (TB-level, nested, distributed) in SQL, Python and Databricks to extract signal from noise, and measure things like incremental marketing impact, customer lifetime value and user satisfaction with new offers
- Communicate findings to influence decisions at every level, from a squad's weekly review to a leadership strategy discussion
- Partner with data, product and engineering teams to improve data quality, tracking, event modelling, metric definitions and documentation, so stakeholders can trust the numbers
The challenge: Turning vague, ambiguous business questions into focused analyses that lead to action, while strengthening how data is captured, modelled and defined (tracking, event modelling, metrics), so stakeholders can trust the numbers behind their decisions.
Who You Are
- 8+ years in analytics, ideally in a product-led digital business such as a marketplace or e-commerce
- A degree in statistics, computer science, econometrics, economics or a related quantitative field
- Expert SQL (nested structures, window functions, query optimisation) and Python for analysis, modelling and automation, with code others can build on
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, BigQuery, AWS or equivalent, and familiarity with dbt, Airflow or similar tools
- Proficiency with Tableau or similar BI tools, and practical experience with Google Analytics 4
- A solid grasp of marketplace revenue drivers: monetisation, funnel economics, customer lifetime value and acquisition vs. retention trade-offs
- A track record of turning ambiguous business questions into clear analytical plans, and of influencing decisions by reframing weak questions, not just answering them
- Strong communication: you can explain a regression discontinuity design to an engineer and a revenue impact to a VP
- Curiosity about user behaviour: what makes a buyer trust a seller, what makes a listing convert, what keeps users coming back
Bonus Points
- Experience in classifieds, two-sided marketplaces or platforms with both consumer and commercial revenue streams.
