About this Role:

Consertus is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Cost Control Manager to lead project cost management initiatives across a portfolio of complex construction and capital projects. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining cost control processes, monitoring project performance, managing forecasts, identifying financial risks, and providing executive-level reporting to support informed business decisions.

The Senior Cost Control Manager serves as a trusted advisor to project teams, operations leaders, and clients, ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets while maintaining the highest standards of financial accountability, transparency, and operational excellence.

Cost Management & Forecasting

  • Lead all project cost control activities for multiple concurrent projects.

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets, estimates, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

  • Analyze project performance and identify cost trends, variances, and financial risks.

  • Ensure accurate forecasting throughout the project lifecycle.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and project performance dashboards.

  • Provide detailed budget-to-actual analyses and earned value reporting.

  • Support leadership with financial insights and recommendations for corrective action.

Project Controls Leadership

  • Establish and enforce project controls standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop reporting tools and metrics that improve project visibility and decision-making.

  • Drive consistency across project controls, cost management, and financial reporting practices.

Risk & Change Management

  • Monitor project changes and assess cost impacts.

  • Partner with project management teams to evaluate change orders and contingency utilization.

  • Identify emerging financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Support contract administration and claims analysis when necessary.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Operations Leaders, Finance, Procurement, and Executive Leadership.

  • Provide guidance on project financial performance and strategic planning.

  • Facilitate regular cost review meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and develop Cost Engineers, Cost Analysts, and Project Controls professionals.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and financial stewardship.

  • Support talent development and succession planning within the project controls function.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cost controls, project controls, project accounting, or construction financial management.

  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing large-scale capital or construction projects.

  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, estimating, earned value management, and financial reporting.

  • Experience managing project portfolios with significant capital expenditures.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project controls systems.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP), PMP, CMA, or equivalent certification.

  • Experience supporting large commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or infrastructure projects.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems, project management software, and business intelligence platforms.

  • Experience implementing project controls best practices across multiple projects or regions.

Working Hours / Compensation Range

  • Full-Time; on-site/hybrid;

  • Compensation range based on skills, education and experience and may vary; $100,000-$175,000 annually.

  • Based in Tarrytown, New York
