Where and how you can work
Our flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, but we've made our way from down under, to a hub in San Francisco, which is now home to our US operations and is where this role will be based.
About the team

That's why when you join our Legal team, you'll work on matters that matter. We aim to truly partner with our business and are always looking for ways we can support Canva's growth and achievement of its goals. And because we're facilitators (not blockers) we enjoy strong, collaborative relationships with the broader Canva team - and that makes all our hard work even more rewarding.
The Corporate Legal Team specifically works closely with Canva's Leadership, Finance, Tax, People and Total Rewards teams (and many more!) across a broad range of projects, helping to empower Canva to meet its crazy big goals. From supporting our financings, acquisitions and global expansion, to advising our board of directors and managing employee equity, we strive to be collaborative, creative and strategic partners for the business and its stakeholders.
Most importantly, you'll see the impact of your work and your contribution will be felt by our communities, Canvanauts and our users (go you!). So pull up a chair. This is Legal like you've never experienced before.
What you'll do

  • You'll support corporate governance and compliance processes, including general record-keeping, preparation of board meeting agendas, presentations, resolutions, consents, minutes and other materials.
  • You'll assist the Corporate Legal team with securities, law compliance and filings
  • You'll work with our Equity Ops Lead to support management of Canva's equity plans and capitalization records
  • You'll drive improvements and synergies by partnering with cross-functional teams, including People, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Payroll on various corporate legal matters and processes
  • You'll assist the Corporate Legal team on acquisitions, financings, secondaries and tender offers
  • You'll support Canva's global expansion efforts by leading the incorporation of new entities and any associated corporate legal workstreams
  • You'll support Canva's tax, finance, accounting and treasury teams on corporate legal matters including KYC, audit and insurance requests

  • A highly collaborative mindset, with a positive attitude, humor, humility and the desire to build, lead and make an impact
  • Superior organizational skills, extraordinary attention to detail and a mindset that processes can always be improved

  • Excellent technology skills with proficiency in Canva, G Suite, Slack, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with external data sites, board portals and subsidiary management databases
  • Bachelor's degree, with a great academic record
