Job Overview:

Are you a seasoned and passionate social media strategist? Do you live, breathe, and consider yourself relentlessly curious about all things social? We are looking for a Sr. Content Strategist in our Chicago or Dallas office (hybrid) to help build the strategic vision of social media and social-first work on our State Farm account.

You are a brand steward. You live to give brands voice, relevance, and bring them to life through social-first work. You get excited about best-in-class work and fuels you to create the next great campaign and content for brands you support. You can confidently sell in a vision, help guide the players who bring it to life, and substantiate success through data and strategy. 

The ideal person for this role has front-line experience developing social strategies for big brands and creating social-first executions. Executions include all tactics of an integrated social platform ecosystem— paid/organic content development, influencer collaboration, community management, measurement/reporting, and earned media amplification. While you specialize in social media, you are also well-versed in digital mediums to help bring brand partnerships and campaigns to life. The ideal person for this role is curious, creative, passionate, analytical, proactive, and excited to share fresh thinking on social media to develop compelling work.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior Content Strategist, you will:
    • Lead and contribute to all social briefing processes, developing insightful and inspiring briefs rooted in data, trends, and strategically-grounded storytelling tailored to the need.
    • Review creative outputs to ensure best practices, incorporating any recent shifts/optimizations, and tie back to the brief and overall content strategy.
    • Leverage deep social media understanding to drive effective social-first strategies and executions, big and small.
    • Heavily contribute social-thought leadership through developing recommendations, POVs, and playbooks to apply against executional work.
    • Identify potential implications to challenges and the work, bringing solutions on how to correct and evolve the work to deliver on the goal.
  • Work with the Brand Experience Strategy Director to:
    • Establish and implement social strategies, including annual strategies, and campaign-specific approaches.
    • Keep up to date with the latest social platform tests and new opportunities, and proactively lead cross-team education on those to drive proactive, innovative new ideas/strategies in a digestible, actionable, and approachable way
      • Expertise in TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, Threads, and YouTube.
      • Knowledgeable of emerging and community-driven platforms like Twitch, Discord, Lemon8, Substack and more.
  • Work with Account Service Team & Content Strategists to:
    • Build monthly content calendars based on platform updates, consumer insights, and reporting/performance.
    • Ensure efficient platform approach and strategy alignment of all tactics— meeting KPIs and brand objectives.
    • Monitor social media for proactive engagement and real-time social opportunities to activate the brand.
  • Work with our Analytics & Data Science team to:
    • Build insight-driven social reports, using data to provide key takeaways and recommended optimizations against WIP and future work implementation.
    • Establish social campaign KPIs, benchmarks, and goals based on monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or communications or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in social media, content or connections strategy role or similar role
  • Firm understanding of social platforms, technologies, and trends with a passion for innovation to create impactful social content and presences
  • Experience working across multiple disciplines such as paid media, digital media, creative, strategy, production, and other areas.
  • Ability to make decisions with conviction in ambiguous and fast-moving environment; comfortable “filling in the blanks” with only 70% of the facts at-hand based on personal expertise, best practices and strategic insights.
  • Expertise in synthesizing and translating information/data into cohesive and concise thoughts with clear action plans.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and ability to autonomously manage multiple assignments on schedule, on brand, and on strategy.
  • Excellent organizational, presenting, and written communication skills with attention to detail. Comfortability presenting to clients is a must.
  • Dynamic personality with ability to effectively interface with all levels of clients, vendors, interagency partners and colleagues with ease and confidence.
