The Role

Voltus has an immediate opening for a Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst role, reporting to our Director of Regulatory Compliance and working closely with our Energy Markets team. The Regulatory Compliance Analyst is responsible for assisting the Director of Regulatory Compliance with all aspects of Voltus' compliance with the tariffs and related regulations applicable to the various wholesale electricity markets in which we operate. 


In this role, you will work closely across functions to ensure our operations and procedures meet industry compliance standards. This is a great role for an energy markets compliance "nerd" who is creative, self-driven, and looking for the opportunity to join a group of passionate people who are dedicated to driving the energy transition through DER aggregation. 


Voltus is a fully distributed company and this job is remote. You have the flexibility to work from anywhere in North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously enhance and scale Voltus' regulatory compliance program based on Department of Justice and FERC guidelines.
  • Assist in appraising new regulations and their impact on the company. Clearly communicate new requirements to the business.
  • Together with the business, develop, maintain, and improve business practices, procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Evaluate internal compliance with business practices and procedures by completing spot checks and procedural audits. 
  • Prepare audit findings and draft recommendations for corrective action.
  • Communicate with management and key stakeholders, explaining audit results, risks, and the impact to compliance.
  • Maintain metrics to monitor progress of audits and audit results.
  • Build and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with the Energy Markets team.
  • Manage all annual market certifications.

Desired Skills

  • 4-year college degree required
  • At least 5 years of experience in energy compliance, regulatory, or risk management disciplines
  • Familiarity with various regulations and requirements including FERC market rules, NERC standards and requirements, wholesale tariffs and state and local regulations
  • Experience conducting internal technical and procedural audits 
  • Experience with data privacy and data security compliance requirements a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Self starter and highly motivated to take ownership of various compliance-related initiatives
