HART is seeking an experienced electronics professional to maintain the communication, passenger information, fare collection and electronic systems used throughout transit operations. This senior-level position installs, adjusts, troubleshoots and repairs mobile, base and portable radios, antenna systems, destination and run signs, passenger counters, transfer machines, fareboxes, intercommunication systems, public address systems and related equipment.

You will diagnose difficult electrical and electronic problems, repair complex equipment to the component level, modify systems for new applications and support other technicians with challenging coach electrical issues. Your work will help HART keep vehicles connected, passenger information available and essential onboard systems operating safely and reliably.

Eligibility, coverage, accruals and other benefit provisions are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement, official plan documents and HART policies.

• Perform preventive maintenance, installation, testing and adjustment of mobile radios, base radios, portable radios, antenna systems and related communications equipment.
• Maintain, install and repair passenger information systems, including destination signs, run signs, passenger counters, transfer machines and related equipment.
• Install, maintain and adjust fareboxes.
• Maintain and install intercommunication, sound, public address and other electronic equipment used in transit operations.
• Diagnose equipment faults and repair complex electronic equipment to the component level.
• Modify existing equipment to support new applications and operational requirements.
• Assist other technicians with difficult coach electrical and electronic problems.
• Participate, when assigned, in planning and constructing specialized electronic equipment and instruments.
• Use diagnostic equipment, plans and schematics to test systems and identify defects.
• Prepare and maintain accurate files, service records and reports.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

• Accurate diagnosis. You identify electrical and electronic defects efficiently and determine the underlying cause.
• Reliable repairs. You complete component-level repairs, installations and modifications that restore equipment to service and reduce repeat failures.
• Preventive maintenance. You inspect, test and adjust equipment on schedule to support dependable transit operations.
• Safe work practices. You use tools, test equipment and transit vehicles safely and follow applicable shop and workplace requirements.
• Clear documentation. You maintain complete and accurate records of inspections, repairs, modifications and equipment status.
• Independent work and teamwork. You manage technical assignments with minimal direction while supporting other technicians and adapting to changing operational needs.

• An associate degree in electronics, telecommunications, electrical technology or a related field, or qualifying related experience substituted at two years of experience for each year of college.
• At least five years of experience installing, maintaining and caring for electronic equipment.
• A valid Florida driver's license.
• The ability to possess or obtain a Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B with Passenger endorsement within the first 90 days of employment.
• An FCC license.
• Ability to meet HART's established testing guidelines and maintain the electronic tools required for the position.
• Knowledge of radio and telephone communications, vehicle tracking systems, electronic systems and electrical theory.
• Working knowledge of electronic equipment installation and advanced testing, repair and maintenance methods.
• Ability to detect defects, read plans and schematics, use diagnostic equipment and complete component-level electronic repairs.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, follow written and verbal instructions and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with coworkers and people with varied backgrounds and personalities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and email systems and the ability to use other technical or office applications required for the work.
• Ability to work various shifts, hours and days and meet HART attendance, punctuality, safety and security requirements.
• Reliable telephone contact.

• Experience with two-way radio, RF communications or antenna systems.
• Experience with fleet or vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
• Experience with passenger information, fare collection, passenger counting or vehicle tracking equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting difficult coach electrical problems.
• Experience planning, building or modifying specialized electronic equipment.

Work is performed in vehicle maintenance shops, transit facilities, vehicles and outdoor settings. Assignments involve specialized electronics and may require working around operating transit equipment while responding to maintenance deadlines and interruptions.

• Hear, speak and maintain the near and far visual acuity, depth perception and color vision needed to perform the work safely.
• Walk and sit frequently and stand or squat for extended periods.
• Occasionally lift and carry supplies or equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Work in shop areas with occasional noise levels of 85 decibels or higher.
• Work around mechanical hazards, fumes, odors, paint and chemical hazards.
• Work outdoors and in changing weather conditions when assignments require it.
